Conclusions
• Blast furnace converter route is dominant (60 %)
• The companies invest in the blast furnace route
• Nearly all blast furnaces are equipped with PCI
• Challenge for steel makers in EU to reduce CO2 emissions
• Development of new CO2 lean processes
• CO2 breakthrough is only possible when applying CCS
• Iron making in blast furnace plants has changed from
“old economy” to “factory of the future”! Clean, highly performing,
environmental friendly, socially sustainable
