Research Profile:
Since 2010 Dr. Michael Volgger, BSc, Mag., has been first a Research
Fellow and then a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Regional
Development and Location Management at the European Academy
Bozen/Bolzano in Italy. In addition, in 2015 Michael Volgger has been
a Visiting Researcher at the Curtin University’s School of Marketing
working with staff from the CBS Tourism Research Cluster on a
number of projects. His main areas of expertise include tourism
destination governance and location management, product development
and innovation in tourism, inter-organisational cooperation and
qualitative research.
Michael has always been able to establish strong industry connections

1 Australian tourism destinations, which included both qualitative and
quantitative research, and published his research in high-quality
journals. Since 2010, he has been part of teams that have successfully
applied for grants for projects that received government and industry
support in the order of 460,000 €. Since 2010, he has co-edited one
research book, two special issues in academic journals and one special
issue of a divulgation-oriented journal. He has published his first
monograph. In addition, he has published 15 peer reviewed academic
journal articles (3 of them in A*-classified and 1 in A-classified journals
according to ABDC), 27 research book chapters, 4 conference papers in
conference proceedings and 15 major industry or government reports.
Moreover, he has presented at more than 30 academic conferences and
conducted more than 40 industry presentations or participated in round
table discussions.
