Today it is already possible to interactively and digitally design our world using a mobile tablet PC with connection to the relevant geographic data. Together we want to discuss the future of this development with national and international partners. The most current contents of the 50 lectures on interactive movement within virtual landscape using mobile tablet PC and using CroudSourcing in urban planning will also be addressed in seven workshops in the afternoon sessions in addition to this year’s conference we are bringing to you top professionals from leading digital landscape architecture companies from across Europe namely: West8, KARRESENBRANDS, TOPOTEK 1 and GROSS.MAX. All supporters and friends of the Hochschule Anhalt are invited for the public concert during the conference dinner on Friday 7 June at 20:00 with the rockabilly band “THE MOO” at the stage of the restaurant of AKZENT Hotel AcamedResort in Neugattersleben close to Nienburg. Vom 6. bis 8. Juni 2013 empfängt die Hochschule Anhalt zur diesjährigen 14-ten Konferenz „Digital Landscape Architecture“ Landschaftsarchitekten und Planer aus mehr als dreißig Ländern. Die interaktive digitale Gestaltung unserer Welt ist heute auf mobilen Tablet PCs mit unmittelbarem Zugriff auf die jeweiligen geographischen Daten möglich. Gemeinsam mit nationalen und internationalen Partnern werden dabei im Bernburger Kurhaus Forschungsergebnisse und Zukunftsfragen diskutiert. Diese Veranstaltung reiht sich in die Aktionswoche „Bernburger Saalesommer“ ein, bei der 20 Jahre Landschaftsarchitektur-Ausbildung als auch 10 Jahre internationale Landschaftsarchitektur-Ausbildung an der Hochschule Anhalt in Bernburg gefeiert wird. Neben mehr als fünfzig Vorträgen werden an den Nachmittagen Workshops mit international renommierten Experten zu Themen wie interaktive Bewegung in virtuellen Landschaften am mobilen Tablet PC oder die Verwendung von CroudSourcing für die Fragen der Stadtplanung und die Verwendung von hochauflösenden neuen Fernerkundungsdaten angeboten. Die wissenschaftlichen Beiträge sind unter „Digital Landscape Architecture 2013“ auf 400 Seiten im Fachbuchverlag Wichmann erschienen. Fachlicher Höhepunkt ist eine Veranstaltung am Samstagvormittag (8. Juni), bei der Vorträge von vier Büroleitern der weltweit renommiertesten Landschaftsarchitekturbüros stattfinden. Aus Edinburgh (Schottland) kommt Eelco Hooftman vom Büro GROSS.MAX, aus Holland kommen Bart Brands von KARRES ENBRANDS und Christian Dobrick von West 8 und aus Berlin kommt Martin Rein-Cano vom Büro TOPOTEK1. Alle Freunde der Hochschule sind am Freitag, dem 7. Juni ab 20:00 zu einem öffentlichen Konzert der Rockabily Band „THE MOO“ eingeladen. Während in der Vergangenheit der „Papierplan“ das wesentliche Kommunikationsmittel war, treten an dessen Stelle zunehmend neue Kommunikationsmedien. Portallösungen für unterschiedlichste 12 Anwendungszwecke oder Apps ermöglichen einen nahezu unbeschränkten Kommunikationsprozess und Informationsfluss. Dadurch ergeben sich einerseits eine Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten der Einbindung von Bürgern und Entscheidern im Rahmen partizipativer Planungsprozesse, die durch die steigende Komplexität rechtlicher und planerischer Rahmenbedingen an Bedeutung gewinnt. Andererseits besteht damit die Möglichkeit Informationen aus verteilten Systemen plattformunabhängig zusammenzuführen. Dadurch ergeben sich jedoch neue Anforderungen an das Datenmanagement sowie notwendige Kenntnisse über die Verwendung anerkannter technischer und fachlicher Standards. Abb. 1: Ausschnitt aus einem GIS-Auskunftssystem unter Nutzung des XPlanungStandard Im genannten Workshop soll eine kurze Einführung in die Bedeutung und Nutzbarkeit derzeit verfügbarer Dienste und Services für Fragestellungen der Landschaftsarchitektur und Umweltplanung gegeben werden. Anhand praktischer Beispiele soll auf die Nutzbarkeit, die organisatorischen und technischen Voraussetzungen sowie die Anforderungen an das zukünftige technische Know-How von Landschaftsarchitekten und Umweltplanern eingegangen werden. Gemeinsam mit den Teilnehmern sollen aktuelle Probleme aus dem Planungsalltag diskutiert werden. 13 Carl Steinitz Carl Steinitz, Alexander and Victoria Wiley Professor of Landscape Architecture and Planning Emeritus, Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, has devoted much of his career to improving methods of Landscape planning and design. Professor Steinitz has organized and taught collaborative, multidisciplinary, semester-long studios and many one to four day workshops on large and complex landscape change problems for more than 40 years at Harvard and also in many other universities. His interests are reflected in his teaching and research on landscape change, methods of landscape analysis, visual quality assessment, and design methodologies. In 1984, he received the outstanding Educators Award of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture; he also received the 1996 Distinguished Practitioner Award from the International Association for Landscape Ecology (U.S.A). He has been honored as an outstanding teacher by Harvard University. Among his many other awards, he was Named Honorary Senator by Anhalt University 14 Erich Buhmann, Scientific Director of DLA Prof. Erich Buhmann holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Munich-Weihenstephan and an MLA as Fulbright Scholar from SUNY Syracuse in the United States. He was appointed Professor at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in 1995 for Computer applications in Landscape Planning “Landschaftinformatik” and served as founding director of the English language Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program from 1998-2008. As a registered landscape architect, he is a partner in the landscape architecture firm ATELIER BERNBURG Landschaftsarchitekten. He is the manager of the regional chapter of the German Society of Landscape Architects BDLA in the State of Saxony Anhalt in Germany. From 1995 to 2008, he co-authored the annual GIS report for the German speaking part of Europe. He is a member of the ECLAS and LE:NOTRE Steering Committee, he is also the chair of the ECLAS committee on Digital Technology and Accreditation System, he is also the Co-chair of the joint IFLA-Europe-ECLAS working group,( European Recognition) Buhmann has been Chair of the annual conference, Digital Landscape Architecture DLA since 1999. 15 Matthias Pietsch Matthias Pietsch is an expert in using GISIn landscape planning and nature conservation. He graduated with a first class degree in landscape architecture at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and received a Master degree at the University of Salzburg. Since 1998 he has been teaching GIS applications in environmental and landscape planning at Anhalt University and as a visiting researcher and lecturer at Hochshule Rapperswil and at the University of Nevada. Since April 2010 he has been teaching at the online Master program beMasterGIS of Anhalt University. In 2006, he joined the Anhalt University as GIS senior research assistant and as GIS project consultant for the affiliated Prof. Hellriegel institute. His main areas of specialization are standardization, developing and implementing methods using GIS in the context of landscape architecture and environmental planning. 16 Nadia Amoroso Nadia Amoroso is the co-founder of DataAppeal, The software tool for visualization of digital images. The company was created in 2011 with Haim Sechter. Nadia Amoroso has a doctorate degree in Architectural studies from the University College London, and degrees in Urban design and Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto. Her research work on mapping urban phenomena and design works are published in a number of journals. She has vast experience in the field of teaching, some of the other Universities that she has lectured includes; Harvard University; Anhalt University and Cornell University. She is currently lecturing at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design. She was a visiting Professor at the University of Arkansas and recently a visiting design critic at the University. 17 Haim Sechter Haim Sechter is a business intelligence analyst and co- founder of DataAppeal, a web-based software application that helps in data design visualization. The Company is based in Toronto, Canada; the software has enjoyed great review for its usage for rendering and easy mode of usage. Haim Sechter is also a senior manager in the field if reporting and analytics at Cancer Care Ontario, Canada. He badged his first degree in Economics at York University, Canada in 2002 and in 2011 he graduated with an MBA at Warwick Business School and also got a certificate from Schulich School of business in the field of Six Sigma Green Belt. He also has worked in notable companies Over the years namely; Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Ministry of Health and LongTerm Care. 18 Jan Walter Schliep Laubwerk’s lead 3D artist has one of the Most extensive resumes in the 3D plant modeling industry, having created a majority of the 3D models for Xfrog greenworks and Xfrogplants series, the same CG software used by Hollywood heavyweights such as Pixar. He has also developed 3D crops and forests plants for use in research projects and visualizations funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In 2011, Jan opened the highly successful Silva3D online store specializing in 3D ornamental plants and grasses. In January 2013, he took on a new challenge as the lead 3D artist for Laubwerk, with the goal to create plants that not only look great, but are far simpler to use than his previous creations. Jan brings 14years of experience to this exciting endeavor as he takes responsibility for all design and procedural modeling for Laubwerk plants kit line of render-ready 3D trees as well as advising and testing the company’s next generation of modeling and editing tools. 19 Philip Paar Philip Paar is a 3D landscape modeling and visualization expert, studied landscape planning at the Technical University Berlin, Research assistant at German Federal Agency for Nature Protection (BFN, 1996), and Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research project on Computer graphics assisted landscape planning (New Media for Landscape Planning- Lenne3D). Co-founder and managing director of the visualization and software company Lenne3D from 2005 to 2009. Occasional visiting researcher or lecturer, e.g Chair of Landscape Architecture, University of Wageningen (WUR), University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde (FHE), University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf, and Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (HSA). 2009 onwards has been visiting fellow at National Singapore University (NUS) introducing GIS, landscape modeling, and visualization to MLA students.
