She earned a B.A. in East Asian Economics and a M.Sc. in Management and Economics both from Ruhr-University Bochum. In her studies she focused on International Economics, Finance and Innovation with a particular interest in China and Southeast Asia. Ceren has gained international experience through study abroad programs and internships in China, South Korea, Taiwan and USA. Most recently, she conducted field research at the Secretariat of SADC (Southern African Development Community) in Gaborone, Botswana, in cooperation with GIZ (German Agency for International Development). Ceren is also a research and teaching assistant at the Chair of International Economics. Her research interests include various aspects of trade, finance and investment focusing on Asia and Africa.
