Hi, everyone! I want to tell you about my favourite books. I like to read a lot, so
when I was in school I read a lot of books. We had a very big school library, so I
took out books all the time. One of my favourite authors was Judy Blume. I read
all of her books because I liked her writing style. She wrote about problems in
life – friendship, falling in love, being an outsider, being fat or ugly.
The very first book I remember reading is called Socks by Beverly Cleary. It’s
about a cat named Socks. Socks has a wonderful life, until his owners have a
baby. Then he has to learn how to deal with his new life.
Then I went on to read two mystery series, the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew.
The Hardy boys and Nancy are teenage detectives and they solve a lot of
different mysteries.

Another book I really liked was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle.
Actually, she wrote four books about the Murry family and I read them all. A
Wrinkle in Time is an adventure story. The children in the Murry family have to
travel through time to find their father.

I also read a series of fantasy adventure stories called the Narnia Chronicles
by C.S. Lewis. The series starts with a book called The Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe. They are a lot like the Harry Potter books – about young people who
fight against evil and have fantastic adventures.
A book I had to read in school was also really good. It is called A Separate
Peace and it is about boys in a boarding school in England. It is set during
World War II and it is about how they deal with war and friendship. Other books
I read when I was thirteen: a book about gangs called The Outsiders and a
book about a girl who uses drugs called Dinky Hocker Shoots Smack.
