1. 5 years anniversary of the OCAD Inc.
On 10 May 2005, OCAD Inc. has been founded to keep on the
development of the map drawing program OCAD after the sudden
death of its inventor. Since then, OCAD Inc. has steadily increased its
sales and employs now six persons at its headquarters in Baar,
Switzerland. The whole team of OCAD Inc. is looking forward to the
next 5 years to develop OCAD according to customer wishes.
2. 20% anniversary discount on OCAD 10 Professional and
Standard.
For the 5 year anniversary of the OCAD Inc., we grant a unique
anniversary discount of 20% for each purchase of OCAD 10
Professional and OCAD 10 Standard Editions between 1 July and 31

3. OCAD Inc. at the 58th German cartographer days in BerlinPotsdam.
As every year, OCAD Inc. was present at the German cartographer
day. At the booth we welcomed many visitors, who received
information directly from the staff about the capabilities of OCAD 10.
We also organized two workshops and held a lecture on migration of
desktop publishing maps into OCAD (see below).
4. Migration of Freehand and other desktop publishing maps
into OCAD
Many maps are drawn with a desktop publishing program (DTP), such
as Macromedia Freehand or Adobe Illustrator. The use of such maps
in geographic information systems is limited because the maps are
not geo-referenced. This limits the combination with spatial data, GIS
or GPS navigation devices. Moreover, the open layer structure of the
DTP program enabling an unstructured map set up. In addition,
workarounds in order to achieve a good graphic representation of
map objects cause redundant data sets. The cleanup and migration of
such data into a GIS environment cause a very big effort. OCAD
makes it possible to migrate maps that were drawn with desktop
publishing programs into a GIS environment easily. In a first step,
the map has to be geo-referenced, in a further step redundant data
will be removed and the remaining map objects will be symbolized.
The map now can be combined with other spatial data or used with a
GPS application. In addition, the map can be exported in a GIS
environment.

OCAD Road Show at the University of Munich on 16th
September 2010
For those who could not visit us at the German cartographer day, we
offer another opportunity to get in touch with OCAD 10 together with
our partners Cartography Huber in Munich and the University of
Munich. We will present you the possibilities for data migration into
OCAD with the OCAD 10 Road Show on Thursday afternoon, 16th
September 2010. In addition you can persuade yourself in a handson workshop from the benefits of data migration into OCAD and on
Friday morning, 17 September 2010. The detailed program will
follow.
6. OCAD 10 CS (Course Setting for Orienteering) new
downloadable over the Internet
Two years ago, we launched the OCAD CS edition. In order to meet
sharply rising sales and to shorten the delivery time, you can
download OCAD 10 CS from now on by Internet. Please enable in the
online ordering form the appropriate field to 'Download' instead of
'mail order'. The OCAD CS edition is available for CHF 48 or € 35
(excluding VAT and taxes).
7. OCAD Inc. at Trade Shows and Events
The OCAD team will be at the following trade shows and events
where OCAD 10 will be demonstrated or you can try out the features
of the software.

1. 5-Jahr Jubiläum der OCAD AG
Am 10. Mai 2005 wurde die OCAD AG gegründet um das
Kartenzeichnungsprogramm OCAD nach dem plötzlichen Tod seines Erfinders weiter
zu entwickeln. Die OCAD AG erfreut sich seit dann einem stetig wachsenden
Umsatz und beschäftigt am Hauptsitz in Baar, Schweiz mittlerweile 6 Personen. Das
ganze Team der OCAD AG freut sich auf die nächsten 5 Jahre, um OCAD nach
Kundenwünschen weiter zu entwickeln.
2. 20% Jubiläums-Rabatt auf OCAD 10 Professional und Standard

3. OCAD AG am 58. Deutschen Kartographen Tag in Berlin-Potsdam
Auch dieses Jahr war die OCAD AG am Deutschen Kartographen Tag vertreten. Am
Stand der OCAD AG durften wir sehr viele Besucher begrüssen, die sich direkt bei
den Mitarbeitenden der OCAD AG über die Möglichkeiten von OCAD 10
informierten. Zudem organisierten wir zwei Workshops und hielten einen
Fachvortrag zum Thema: Migration von Desktop Publishing-Karten nach OCAD (vgl.
unten).
4. Migration von Freehand oder anderen Desktop Publishing-Karten nach
OCAD
Viele Karten sind mit einem Desktop-Publishing-Programm (DTP), wie Macromedia
Freehand oder Adobe Illustrator gezeichnet worden. Die Nutzung solcher Karten in
Geographischen Informationssystemen ist begrenzt, weil die Karten nicht
georeferenziert sind. Dies limitiert die Kombination mit Geodaten, GIS oder die
Navigation mit GPS-Geräten. Die offene Layerstruktur der DTP-Programme
ermöglicht einen unstrukturierten Aufbau der Karte. Zudem verursachen
"Workarounds", um eine gute grafische Darstellung von Kartenobjekten zu
erreichen, redundante Datensätze. Die Bereinigung und Migration solcher Daten in
eine GIS-Umgebung verursachen daher einen sehr grossen Aufwand. Mit OCAD
können Karten, die mit DTP-Programmen gezeichnet wurden, leicht in eine GISUmgebung migriert werden. In einem ersten Schritt wird die Karte georeferenziert,
in einem weiteren Schritt werden redundante Daten entfernt und die verbleibenden
Daten symbolisiert. Die Karte kann nun mit anderen Geodaten kombiniert oder mit
einer GPS-Anwendung verwendet werden. Darüber hinaus kann die Karte in eine
GIS-Umgebung exportiert werden.

5. OCAD 10 Road-Show, Migration von DTP-Karten nach OCAD am 16.
September 2010 an der Hochschule München
Für diejenigen, die uns am Deutschen Kartographen Tag nicht besuchen konnten,
bieten wir zusammen mit unserem Partner Kartographie Huber in München und der
Hochschule München eine weitere Möglichkeit um OCAD 10 kennen zu lernen. Mit
der OCAD 10 Road-Show präsentieren wird Ihnen am Donnerstagnachmittag, dem
16. September 2010, die Möglichkeiten zur Datenmigration nach OCAD, am
Freitagmorgen, 17. September 2010 können Sie sich selber in einem Hands-OnWorkshop über die Vorzüge der Datenmigration nach OCAD überzeugen lassen. Das
detaillierte Programm folgt demnächst.
6. OCAD 10 CS (Bahnlegungsprogramm für Orientierungsläufe) neu über
das Internet herunterladbar
Vor 2 Jahren starteten wir mit der OCAD CS Edition. Um dem stark steigenden
Verkauf gerecht zu werden und die Lieferzeit zu verkürzen, können Sie OCAD 10 CS
ab sofort auch über das Internet herunterladen. Bitte aktivieren Sie bei der OnlineBestellung das entsprechende Auswahlfeld 'Download' anstelle 'Postversand'. Die
OCAD CS Edition erhalten Sie für CHF 48 oder 35 Euro (exklusive MwSt. und
Taxen).
7. OCAD an Messen und Veranstaltungen
