Solution
Download and apply the IBM Hard Disk Drive Update Program, version
1.11, or later (Firmware Level S9HA or later).
Additional information
The IBM drives listed may be marked DDD prematurely. There are two
issues involved:
1. The first issue is limited, but is seen in some customer
environments where the drives are powered on and off frequently.
The fix is a hard drive microcode update to S9AA level or higher.
2. The second issue is most likely seen in environments where a
customer is using an IBM ServeRAID adapter. In this
environment, normal background drive maintenance and logging
functions may be not be performed. This new code corrects this
situation. The fix is a hard drive microcode update to S9HA level
or higher.

this document.
