Dictation race – rules

Have a close look at the rules and do the dictation race.
Dictation race
1. Get together with a partner.
2. Listen to Rhys talking about his job.
3. Turn around the text your teacher has given
to you and read it carefully.
4. Run to one of the cards on the walls and
memorize what is written on the card.

Getting to know Rhys – text for the dictation race

Vocabulary on stage – rules of the game
Answer the vocabulary questions correctly and be the star on stage.
Rules of the game
1. Each of you writes down five questions he/she would like to
ask the others.
2. Six volunteers go to the front of the
class (the stage) and get a number (1–6)
each.
3. Now the audience1 asks them questions.
The pupil whose turn it is reads out the
question and then throws the die2. The
eyes of the die show which of the pupils
on the stage will answer.

4. Correct answer → The pupil leaves the “stage” and chooses
someone in the audience who will take his/her place on the
stage.

Incorrect answer or no answer → The other five pupils on the
stage get the chance to answer the question. A roll of the die
decides who will answer first.
5. Then it’s the next one’s turn to ask a question and so on.
The pupil who asked the question is “saved” for this round and
can’t be chosen for the stage!
