INVITATION
to the
5th Int. AVCA Motorfahrer-Wertungsfahrt, a rally for ancient
vehicles manufactured until 1918 ( FIVA B )
The winner will be awarded the “Melanie Gräfin KhevenhüllerMetsch Erdödy Trophy”
in Velden am Wörthersee
from August 27th to 31st, 2014
Melanie Gräfin Khevenhüller-Metsch was a pioneer of the history of cars in
Austria. As one of the founders of the Austrian automobile club and as a member
of the Executive Board she played an active role in the various activities of the
club in the early years. With her enthusiasm for races she had not only organised
car races already at the beginning of the last century but she had also taken part in
these car races herself. Her car, the “Mercedes Simplex 1904“, has been owned
by the Carinthian noble family Khevenhüller-Metsch since 1905.
The countess’s original car, driven by her great-grandchild, Count KhevenhüllerMetsch, will take part in the rally as well, but outside the ranking.
To support the Austrian automobile club ÖAMTC, the Khevenhüller-Metsch
family has decided to donate a challenge cup. This is a copy of the original cup of
1909, now owned by the family. The winners of the previous years were:
Heinrich Brühne with his Mercedes Knight in 2005, Dr. Helmut Czyka with his
Laurin & Klement in 2008,Willi Holländer with his Renault BZ in 2010 and
Egon Grünwald with his Rochet Schneider in 2012.
The aim of the Automobil Veteranen Club Austria (AVCA) is to support a
“museum on wheels” on the Carinthian roads.
Velden am Wörthersee provides the perfect conditions for this event. We would
like to invite you to attend this rally.
The routes and distances are carefully selected to meet the requirements of
ancient vehicles manufactured until 1918. Nevertheless, please notice that
you have to overcome about 150 km every day and that short ascents are
part of the beautiful Carinthian landscape.

10.30am: Presentation of a stationary gas engine built in 1906 and a wood gas
generator by Dr. Thomas Tschinder at this house
11.30am: Arrival at the Town Hall Feldkirchen and presentation of all vehicles
Long Distance : all vehicles with powerful engines continue their drive to
Himmelberg
Short Distance: for all the other teams we provide a shuttle service to
Himmelberg
12.30pm: Reception by the family of Count Lodron Laterano at PibersteinHimmelberg Castle

The organizer reserves the right to chance program or routes.
This rally is open to all vehicles manufactured until 1918.
According to AVAC all vehicles shall be in original conditions. Any adaptations
must be done according to that period.
Since this is a FIVA rally you have to present your FIVA document
The ranking is divided into 4 categories according to the years of manufacture,
defined by the FIVA:
Category A: vehicle manufactured until 1904
Category B: vehicles manufactured between 1905 and 1918 (subdivided into:)
B1: up to 2000 ccm engine capacity
B2: up to 3000 ccm engine capacity
B3: more than 3000 ccm capacity (from 2008)
The winner of category A or B will we awarded the challenge cup of the
Carinthian noble family Khevenhüller-Metsch.

The entry fee covers the following services: 4 nights including breakfast in the
****Superior-Seehotel EUROPA in Velden, located right on Lake Wörthersee
with a guarded and covered car park for all vehicles attending the rally; all meals
for lunch (including drinks) and dinner (not including drinks) according to the
program, welcome snack, gala dinner, all receptions, special awards for the top 5
of each category, entrance fees, road book, a race number plate, a race badge, a
polo shirt for each participant and the ÖAMTC Break down service.
At the Seehotel Europa:
Rooms have been reserved for 40 Teams. For those who have already taken part
and would like to have the same room as last year, please indicate your preferred
room number. Rooms will be distributed on a first come first serve principle.
We can also provide further accommodation at the Hotel Post-Wrann (same
ownership – distance about 300m).
Closing date for registration: You are strongly advised to book as soon as
possible!
PLEASE NOTICE! This rally is limited to 45 vehicles. Late entries will only be
accepted in agreement with the organizer.
