O Widawscy Studio Architektury é o quartel general
da dupla de arquitetos com o mesmo apelido. Depois
de um período a trabalharem na Irlanda, Katarzyna e Tomasz regressaram à Polónia e, em 2008, criaram este estúdio multidisciplinar. Ainda que muito
jovens, contam já com vários projetos de arquitetura
e design de interiores mas também de design industrial. Em todos eles tentam colocar a tónica numa
combinação entre o minimalismo e o modernismo.
Neste apartamento em Varsóvia, pensado para um
casal jovem com um filho pequeno, obedeceram a
essa mesma linha. Optaram por misturar linguagens
e cores sobre um fundo branco, uma cor que consideram fascinante.

The Widawscy Studio Architektury is the headquarters
of the duo of architects with that same surname. After
a period working in Ireland, Katarzyna and Tomasz
returned to Poland, and in 2008 they created this multidisciplinary studio. Although they are both very young,
they have already worked in different projects, not only
in architecture and interior design but also in industrial
design. In all of them they try to focus on a combination of minimalism and modernism. In this apartment
in Warsaw, designed for a young couple with a little boy,
they obeyed to that same line of thought.
They opted to mix languages and colours on a white
background, a colour that they consider to be fascinating. The defining characteristic of this two-bedroom flat
is the open space into which the communal areas merge.
The nerve centre is the kitchen with its white and yellow
cabinets. Around it, there is the dining room where the >

amarelos. Em torno dela, a sala de jantar onde se recebem as visitas, a zona de estar que também é escritório, e o hall que serve as brincadeiras do mais pequeno
e seus amigos. O open space é um espaço luminoso
e dinâmico, pela luz que atravessa as vidraças e pelo
uso estratégico da cor. A forma como as diferentes zonas estão distribuídas confere ao espaço e a quem nele
vive uma flexibilidade de usos muito interessante.
No open space não só se misturam funções, como
materiais e linguagens. O chão em mosaico na zona
da cozinha contrasta com o soalho em torno. Foram
aplicados dois papéis de parede: as linhas verticais
coloridas versus as palavras cinzentas de várias formas e tamanhos. A cozinha mistura uma linguagem
laboratorial e contemporânea com a textura e o calor
da madeira. Na sala de jantar uma mesa antiga recuperada joga com as linhas modernas das cadeiras
Pantone e dos candeeiros Momo.

couple receive guests, the living area, which is also a work
place, and the entrance hall where the little one can play
with his friends. The open space is a bright and dynamic
space, due to the light coming through the windows and
the strategic use of colour.The way the different areas are
distributed in space introduces a very interesting flexibility in the daily usages of the apartment.
In the open space not only were functions mixed but
also materials and languages. The mosaic floor in the
kitchen area contrasts with the surrounding floor. Two
different wallpapers were applied: the colourful vertical
lines versus the gray words of various shapes and sizes.
The kitchen has both a contemporary and laboratorial
language and the texture and warmth of wood. In the
dining room an antique table works along the modern
lines of the Pantone chairs and Momo lamps.
The background colour of the interiors is white, but
it gains personality with notes of colour in a variety of forms and functions, and graphic details that
invoke the Pop Art universe. Colour remains prevalent even in the bathroom, which is brightly green. >

da Pop Art. As notas de cor mantêm-se predominantes até na casa de banho, desta feita em verde. Mas
os dois quartos assumem uma postura diferente. O
quarto do casal é o contraste absoluto face ao resto
da casa. Tem um ambiente mais clássico e romântico, com tons claros, criando um oásis de paz e relaxamento que faz esquecer o colorido e a geometria
do outro lado da porta. Também o quarto do filho,
apesar dos apontamentos de cor na parede – os carrinhos da Marimekko e uma zona pintada de azul – e
nos plásticos dos móveis e das caixas onde se arrumam os brinquedos, é maioritariamente branco, permitindo assim o descanso do pequeno guerreiro. ::

But the two bedrooms take a different stance.The master
bedroom is a stark contrast with the rest of the house. It
has a more classic and romantic touch, with soft colours,
creating an oasis of peace and relaxation that makes one
forget the colour and geometry on the other side of the
door. Also in the son's room, despite the touches of colour
on the wall – the Marimekko little cars and the wall
painted blue – and on the plastic furniture and boxes,
white prevails, allowing the little warrior to rest. ::
