Earn 5 - 99 points for a Bronze Medal Earn 100 - 249 points for a Silver Medal Earn 250 or more points for a Gold Medal I earned _________ points in the CAISL Summer Reading Olympics. Color in the medal you earned! You have the opportunity to be a CAISL Summer Olympic athlete. Just like real Olympic athletes, you get to have fun doing something that’s great for you—reading! Each event is slightly different, with combinations of reading, reading aloud, writing, drawing, etc. Also, points are earned differently in each event. Read the instructions carefully! Keep track of what you’ve read by recording books on each page. Keep track of your points by coloring on each page—color in the picture that matches the activity you’ve completed. If you need links to resources, to print another copy of the booklet, or answers to question, go to the CAISL website (www.caislisbon.org) and the Library Media Center pages under “Quick Links.” To get to RAZ Kids go to http://www.raz-kids.com/. When you like one book, you may like others by the same author, or from the same series. MY SUMMER WORD SEARCH PUZZLE You can find some very exciting reading in places other than books! Earn 5 points for each different type of material you read, then color the hurdle for that type! The Olympics are happening this summer! There will be a lot of news about the events and the athletes. Try exploring your book in different ways by completing tasks from the table below. 20 points—Complete one activity from each row (one “Read it,” one “Talk about it,” one “Draw it,” and one “Prove it”) Sometimes, the best part of reading is sharing it with a friend! Read the same book as a friend to earn points for Synchronized Swimming. Color the waves for the points you earn. 10 points—Read the same book as a friend or family member. Color in each square that you complete! Read a book in a language other than English Read a historical fiction book Design a new cover for a book you’ve read and turn it in with this booklet Create a bookmark based on a book you’ve read Upload a photo of yourself reading to Moodle Visit a library. Upload the picture to Moodle. Take aim! Make a goal and shoot for it! The best way to get better at reading is to keep reading things a little longer and a little harder than before. BONUS points—5 extra points for each fully completed track. Be sure to color in the road for the event you are reading! For each week there is one brick on the road—color it for the weeks you read for at least the minimum amount of time.
