She began her week with a straight-set victory over Charlotte Cote of Nova Southeastern after pairing up with Taylor Newman to take the doubles match over Austin Lavalli and Alexandra Johansson, 8-2. On March 8 vs. Evansville, Drobnjak took the point in a third-set victory over Natasha James, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The next day against South Dakota, she and Newman teamed up to top Shadi Soleymani and Alena Sergeychik, 8-4, before defeating Soleymani in singles, 64, 7-6. In the 7-0 sweep of North Dakota, Drobnjak and Newman defeated Stephanie Petsis and Stephanie Biehn, 8-3. She then swept Megan Sween, 6-0, 6-2. THE CRONS BRAND FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK HANNAH CRAWFORD Radford Winchester, Hampshire UK Crawford recorded three wins at the No. 2 singles position and four victories from No. 2 doubles last week. On March 6, she paired up with Meg Napolitano to defeat Daria Burobina and Frederica Longo of Nova Southeastern, 9-7, before topping Dominique Wimmer in straight sets. Two days later against Evansville, Crawford and Napolitano knocked off Emily Richardson and Kelsey Costales, 86. Crawford then took down Aleksandra Dzakula in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 12-10. On March 9 vs. South Dakota, she and Napolitano defeated Michelle Elkin and Nina Barudzic, 8-4, before she topped Alena Sergeychik in another third-set victory, 5-7, 7-6, 10-2. Crawford rounded out her week by defeating Megan Sween and Sarah Stejskal of North Dakota, 8-4, before topping Stephanie Biehn, 6-2, 61. The Camels are currently riding a six-match winning streak, and their 9-2 record is the best ten match start since 2007 ... Campbell will begin a four match home stand March 17 against Hampton. CHARLESTON SOUTHERN CSU enjoyed a 4-3 victory over a UNC Greensboro team which came into the match fresh off a win over previously undefeated Big South member Coastal Carolina ... CSU also split four of its matches against No. 67 UNC Wilmington, and led three others, before play was postponed due to rain ... OLGA MAKHOVA and MARIJA DZAKOVIC combined to give the Bucs their only win at doubles, while YVONNE HUBLER, Dzakovic, ALEXANDRA WALTERS, and ALIA NOUR provided singles wins from spots 3-6 ... This is an action-packed week for the Bucs, as they will also visit College of Charleston on March 17, and UMass on March 19. COASTAL CAROLINA Coastal Carolina dropped its first match of the season on March 6 to UNC Greensboro, 2-5 ... They bounced back with a 6-1 over Temple at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center, extending their home record to 7-1 ... Coastal will travel to Winter Park, Fla. to play a pair of non-Conference matches against Quinnipiac and Rhode Island followed by a Conference match on Saturday in Boiling Springs against Gardner-Webb. GARDNER-WEBB Gardner-Webb stayed hot this week, going 3-0 in matches against Liberty, Siena and Savannah State to push its current win streak to five consecutive matches ... The Runnin’ Bulldogs success continues to come from the top, as the No. 1, 2, and 3 positions all played key roles in the Conference win at Liberty as well as the sweeps of the Saints and Tigers ... ERICA WHITE and ALICE HOPKINS are a combined 22-2 in singles play this season, as Gardner-Webb’s primary No. 1 and 2 players, respectively, have risen to the challenge in leading Coach JIM CORN’s team thus far in 2012. LIBERTY Liberty snapped its six-game slide, defeating Coker by a 9-0 margin ... Liberty also fell to 0-2 in Big South matches this week, falling to GardnerWebb by a 4-3 decision ... The loss was the Lady Flames’ third defeat by a 4-3 margin this season ... The Lady Flames have a full week with five matches on slate ... Three contests will take place in Orlando, Fla., for the team’s spring break trip ... The team will then make up a Big South contest with Charleston Southern on the March 16, before hosting Hampton on March 17. PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE PC went 3-1 last week before seeing its five-match win streak come to an end with a narrow 4-3 loss to South Dakota ... The Blue Hose picked up wins over Robert Morris, Saginaw Valley State and Upper Iowa ... PATRICIA ALVES improved to 9-3 in singles play, leading the team in that category ... PAIGE OELKE enters the week with six consecutive wins and CARA CARUSO has five .... The team’s next Big South Conference match comes on March 24 at Campbell. RADFORD Radford went a perfect 4-0 this week and improved their record to 10-4 overall. UNC ASHEVILLE UNC Asheville played once last week and fell at Appalachian State, 7-0 ... The Bulldogs get back into action at Western Carolina on March 14 and then hosts Winthrop Sunday afternoon ... Freshman JENNA DODGE is 6-4 for the Blue & White at the No. 4 singles position. WINTHROP The Eagles came up a bit short from capturing a momumental victory over #29 Brown, falling 4-3 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex ... YASMINE ALKEMA led the Eagles with a perfect day, winning in No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles ... Winthrop will travel to UNC Asheville on March 18 for a key Conference matchup.
