Workshop 2011 Gridshell 2011 workshop Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes School of architecture Saar index 1. preface 2. schedule 3. students and teacher 4. workshop preface Within the lectures in structural analysis which are covering three terms, the students have to prepare a student project in each term. It consists of two parts: first the development and construction of the supporting structure of their project of the term and second a practical exercise for the better understanding of the flux of forces. The last of these practical exercises in 2011 was focused on gridshells. The objective was demonstrating it‘s typical structural behavior with the help of several student projects and the realization of one as a model in a larger scale. schedule student workshop „gridshell“, as part of the lectures in structural analysis location: School of Architecture Saar date: 12.7.2011 project: design and developing of a gridshell as a model in a larger scale objectives: In the exercise, a gridshell is to be built. Therefore, only bamboo beams (30 cm length) and plastic clamps have to be used. So the result will be a very pure structure. The elements of the construction are realized by three braided beams, and every element is connected to three other elements. This way, the whole construction exists of triangles and sexangles. Because of the continuous connected beams, the resulting design is a selfbending bowl with arbitrary bordering. This way, a very simple load carrying system can be built with ease and in shortest time. students and teacher teacher: Prof. Klaus Köehler students: Stefan Kiekbach, Oliver Munz, Simon Huffer, Francesco Musso, Maximilan Klein, Dustin Alt, Mathieu Tosi, Janick Betz, Natalie Schneider, Gregor Grauthoff, Myriam Port, Aline Hilpert, Annegret Heger, Annika André, Daniela Merten, Marina Piechele, Bianca Troha, Eileen Sommer, Annika Schmitt, Tatjana Wagner, Kim Monz, Hatice Ünal, Evguenia Kalaschnikowa, Yasmin Güner, Helene Bunge, Tamara Petry, Kim Kischkel, Katharina Alt, Milena Tadjer, Toni Schnauss, Florian Wolbring workshop explaining model starting still confused it‘s growing assemblies almost ready gridshell model
