» Na descolagem, aterragem e quando o sinal estiver aceso, deve estar
sentado com o cinto de segurança apertado. Deve manter-se assim, sempre que
não precise de se deslocar na cabina
» A bagagem de mão – com as dimensões internacionalmente
estabelecidas –, deve ser colocada nos compartimentos posicionados por cima do
seu lugar ou debaixo da cadeira à sua frente (excepto nas filas de emergência). No
fim da viagem certifique-se que a leva consigo
» Se houver escalas de trânsito, transporte consigo os seus valores
» Em nenhuma circunstância será permitido fumar a bordo
» A quantidade de bebidas alcoólicas servidas a bordo é regida por Decreto-Lei
A tripulação terá o prazer de lhe servir refeições acompanhadas de bebidas e
distribuirá gratuitamente auscultadores, que serão recolhidos no fim do voo, para
que possa desfrutar dos canais de filmes e música.

se tornaram numa competição de paz, primeiro
entre os homens e depois entre as nações do
mundo.
Este é o ano de Pequim, que recebe de braços
abertos os sonhos daqueles que anseiam, tal
como na antiguidade clássica lutavam pela coroa
de pequenos ramos de oliveira entrelaçados,
uma medalha num qualquer metal precioso.
Tal como nós, que concorremos, directamente,
com os nossos adversários neste negócio cada
vez mais competitivo e apertado, também os
nossos desportistas vão debater-se para chegar
mais rápido, mais alto e de forma mais forte,
como o lema olímpico Citius, altius, fortius, entre
pares e iguais.
É por esta razão que a nossa empresa patrocina,
na presente época, a equipa de rugby do
CDUL como forma de incentivo aos jovens e ao
desporto.
A todos aqueles, que defendem as cores da
nossa bandeira, o escudo português, os cinco

Civilização antiga, a Austrália é habitada por aborígenes há mais de 40 000
anos, mas somente foi colonizada por europeus há dois séculos.
As florestas tropicais, as áreas desérticas e a Grande Barreira de Coral são
alguns dos melhores “cartões-de-visita” deste horizonte longínquo. As suas
paisagens, dotadas de uma imponente beleza, única e original, parecem ter
saído de uma película cinematográfica.
Australia, an old civilization inhabited by aborigines for more than 40 000
years; however it was only colonized by Europeans two centuries ago.
The tropical forests, the desert areas and the Great Barrier Reef, are
some of the main attractions of this remote horizon. Its landscapes are
gifted with a magnificent, unique and singular beauty, almost like a movie
scenario.

Depois de Sidney, e rumando para oeste em direcção às Blue Mountains,
poder-se-á descobrir o Parque Nacional (Património da Humanidade), que
separa o Norte tropical do Sul temperado, bem como as cidades costeiras do

At Cairns, in the Australian northeast, a cruise leads to the Great Barrier
Reef considered one of the world’s largest reefs. It’s a fascinating
landscape similar to a colourful palette. There are some islands with
vacations resorts that have sandy beaches of white and fine sand,
coralline lagoons, large extensions of coconut trees and some volcanic
cones covered by vegetation.

A viagem começa em Alexandria, antiga capital na época greco-romana e mais
conhecida como a Pérola do Mediterrâneo. A primeira impressão que fica na
retina é a de uma cidade imparável, cheia de vida. O sumptuoso Palácio de
Muntazah e os seus maravilhosos jardins, em tempos residência veranil da corte
egípcia real, e a fortaleza militar de Qa’it Bey, edificada no antigo Farol, são

period, best known as the Mediterranean Pearl.
The most vivid impression we keep from the city, is the hustle and livelihood it
holds. The luxurious Muntazah Palace was the summer residence of the Egyptian
nobles. Here we must stop to appreciate its astonishing gardens and Qa’it Bey
the military fortress built in the ancient lighthouse.

misturam e coabitam as mais variadas identidades culturais, com os seus souks
(comércio tradicional) lado a lado com o comércio de luxo ocidental. Torna-se
imperativo explorar as Grandes Pirâmides de Gizé (uma das 7 maravilhas do
mundo antigo): Khufu, Khafre e Menkaure, “protegidas” pela famosa Esfinge.
Do Cairo até Luxor, uma cidade em que estão presentes todos os traços da
antiguidade egípcia. Atravessando o Nilo percebe-se a importância das margens
– a oriental consagrada aos deuses da mitologia egípcia, representada pelo
Templo de Karnak, e a ocidental dedicada aos mortos, no grandioso vale dos
reis, onde está sepultado o Faraó Tutankhamon.

a melting pot of cultural identities, where Souks (traditional trade), are side by side
with the luxurious western trade. It is mandatory to explore the Great Pyramids of
Giza (it was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world): Khufu, Khafre and
Menkaure “all protected” by the famous sphinx.

The European Union has just launched
the programme CLEARSKY to support the
aviation sector. The purpose is to build
environmental-friendly airplanes until 2014.
These planes will be built with ecological
engines that use alternative fuel in order to
reduce the carbon dioxide and nitric oxide
production.

Alcochete é o local escolhido para a construção do novo aeroporto de
Lisboa. Prevê-se que em 2010 se iniciem as obras, e que em 2017 esteja
operacional.
Alcochete is the location chosen to build the new Lisbon airport. The
construction is supposed to start in 2010 and the airport will be fully
operational in 2017.
A escolha de Alcochete foi baseada no estudo comparativo, levado
a cabo pelo Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC), o qual
afirma que a zona do campo de tiro, situada entre os concelhos de
Benavente e Montijo, é mais favorável a nível global, pois implica um
menor risco ambiental.
Segurança, sustentabilidade dos recursos naturais e riscos, eficiência e
capacidade das operações do tráfego aéreo bem como a redução do
consumo de energia com uma estimativa anual de poupança de 800
000 euros, foram alguns dos critérios tidos em conta pelo executivo
governamental.
Com o objectivo de preservar os valores da Natureza, vai ser criada uma
extensa área de reserva integral, que irá abranger os solos agrícolas
com maior capacidade de produção.
The decision to choose Alcochete was supported by a study made
by the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LNEC), which
confirms that the area of the outdoor shooting range between
Benavente and Montijo, is the most favourable location, globally
speaking, because it represents the lowest environmental risk.
Security, maintenance of the natural resources and its risks,
efficiency, air traffic operations ability, as well as the decrease of
the energy used with an annual cutback in 800 000 euros were
the criteria used by the governmental board to make the final
decisions.
With the objective of preserving Nature’s values, it will be created a
vast area of natural reserve, that will enclose the biggest agricultural
ground with the largest capacity of production.

quarto dos 22 849 milhões de passageiros que
viajaram para Portugal Continental fizeram-no
através de companhias aéreas de baixo custo (as
lowcost). No ano transacto, houve um aumento
de 8% em relação a 2005. Em cada dez aviões
que aterravam em solo português, dois eram de
companhias lowcost.

chineses. Sendo a maior estrutura coberta
alguma vez construída, tem capacidade para
receber 76 milhões de passageiros por ano.

Desde os 16 anos, quando comecei a
representar a Selecção Nacional de judo, que
os aviões são quase como a minha segunda
“casa”. Já perdi a conta aos dias, horas e
minutos que passei dentro de aviões e de
aeroportos.
Estas muitas viagens e horas infindáveis
de avião levaram-me a muitos países e a
muitas cidades, quase sem tempo para as
conhecer.
Do Rio de Janeiro a Tóquio, de Paris a
Moscovo, de Londres a Praga muitas são
as cidades, algumas muito superficialmente,
que conheço.
Muito embora em todas reconheça encantos,
Paris é sem dúvida a minha cidade preferida.
As ruas largas e cheias de cor fascinam-me.
Gostei de ver as diferentes culturas, e de em
cada rua haver algo que nos deslumbra, seja
à saída do metro, um grupo de rapazes a
dançar, ou numa ruela, em que alguém nos
diverte com os truques de magia, enquanto,
na rua do lado, outro alguém toca um
instrumento ou pinta numa tela.
Gosto da luz de Paris, do Sena, da Torre Eiffel,
do Louvre, dos livros velhos e de beber um
café com leite quente nas belas esplanadas,
numa noite fria.
Fico fascinada em Montmartre. Ainda não tive
tempo para me colocar nas mãos de um dos
muitos pintores e deixá-lo desenhar os meus
traços, mas é algo que quero fazer.Fasciname Paris vista do alto do Sacré Coeur.
Paris é, sem dúvida, depois de Lisboa, a
“minha cidade”, um local excelente para se
estar e ficar.

Since I started representing the National
judo Team, with 16 years old, airplanes have
become almost my second home. I’ve lost
track of the days, hours and minutes that I
spent aboard airplanes or in airports.
These many journeys and countless hours
flying have taken me to many different
countries and cities, but with a small amount
of time to visit them.
From Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo, from Paris to
Moscow and London to Prague, these are
the cities that I know, but some of them only
superficially.
Even though all of them have their own
attractions, Paris is definitely, my favourite
one. Its large, colourful streets fascinate
me.
I enjoyed watching the different cultures, and
the fact that in each street there is something
that fascinates us, like outside the subway, I
met a group of boys dancing, and in a small
alley there’s always someone amusing us
with magic tricks while another one plays an
instrument, or creates a painting.
I love the light of Paris, the Seine, the Eiffel
Tower, the Louvre, the old books, drinking
a coffee with warm milk in the beautiful
esplanades, on a cold night.
I’m fascinated by the Montmartre. I haven’t
found the time, yet, to put myself in the
hands of the many painters and allow them
to draw my portrait, but that is something
I want to do. I love the panoramic view of
Paris from the top of the Sacré Coeur.
It is definitely my favourite city, after Lisbon.
Paris is a great place to be and stay.
The best memories that I keep are from
Paris. I return to Paris every time I can.

A praça de Tiananmen era uma praça imperial interdita, envolta por
ofuscantes paredes vermelhas que foram derrubadas nos anos 50. Ao
nascer e ao pôr-do-sol, as imponentes cerimónias, do hastear e recolher
da bandeira, constituem uma celebração diária sagrada.
No centro de Tiananmen é possível vislumbrar-se no horizonte o contraste
de um complexo arquitectónico centenário, lado a lado com edifícios
recentes construídos num estilo moderno. É a cidade de avenidas largas
e rectas, mas simultaneamente de ruelas estreitas e sinuosas construídas
em torno da Cidade Proibida, o antigo núcleo palaciano que surge como
o centro da cidade, rodeada por uma rede de estradas, caminhos, de
círculos concêntricos.
Caminha-se a norte em direcção à Porta da Paz Celestial. Erguese à frente a Cidade Proibida, que está rodeada por um fosso que foi
construído para guardar e proteger o Palácio Imperial. Cinco pontes de
mármore transpõem o fosso e a mais larga, que se encontra no meio,
leva à Cidade Proibida, a partir de onde se enceta o passeio e se entra no
outrora hermético mundo imperial. Feche os olhos, respire

Tiananmen square was an imperial place with limited access,
surrounded by bright red walls destroyed in the 50’s. The
raising of the national flag is a daily celebration. In the centre
of Tiananmen you can glimpse in the horizon the architectonic
contrast of the ancient and the modern buildings. The city has
wide and straight avenues but also narrow and wiggly roads
built all around the Forbidden City – the ancient palace centre
that appears as the middle of the city which is surrounded by
a network of roads, paths and coaxial circles.
Walking towards north to the Gate of Heavenly Peace,
Forbidden City rises up ahead. Is surrounded by a pit that was
built to guard and protect the Imperial Palace. Five marble
bridges cross the pit and the widest, in the middle, leads to the
Forbidden City, where you can start the journey and enter the
former hermetic imperial world. Close your eyes, breath calmly
the atmosphere that breathes and sweats history. Now, it is
only forbidden to waist every town corner filled with

O Palácio de Verão (15 km a noroeste do centro da cidade), composto
por inúmeros edifícios, aloja o maior jardim imperial da China, realçado

The Temple of Heaven, located 2 km from the Forbidden city, is

where the cypress stand out. With a solemn atmosphere and

Chinese mandarin.
Embrenhar-se pelas Hutongs, beber a cultura chinesa
Vagueando pela cidade, nada melhor do que contactar directamente com
a cultura chinesa, passeando pelas hutongs, profundas, entrançadas
e estreitas travessas algumas vezes sinuosas, existentes no centro
histórico de Pequim, representativas da vida e cultura pequineses, onde
se conserva o modo de viver típico e tradicional. As hutongs conduzem
aos siheyuan, complexos residenciais com casas construídas em tijolo
e madeira, com os seus sossegados pátios no centro. Nestes bairros
antigos, em cada uma destas casas coabita uma extensa família de várias
gerações, onde as memórias da infância se tornam doces e marcantes.
Algumas famílias convidam os turistas a entrar, para saborearem um
precioso chá, e conviverem com a hospitalidade tradicional dos seus
habitantes. O encanto destes momentos perpetua-se, tornando-se um
aspecto deveras significativo de toda a viagem, da beleza e o encanto
eterno desta simples e real vida, que parece fazer parte de um quadro

Enrolada por entre montes, cercada de colinas verdejantes, a parte da
Grande Muralha que serpenteia pela paisagem do norte de Pequim,
como um dragão coberto de escamas, tem à volta de 600 quilómetros.
Da zona da praça de Tiananmen pode-se apanhar um transporte para
visitar Badaling, a secção mais acessível.
A Grande Muralha é a Maravilha entre as maravilhas. Obra grandiosa
e megalómana, com os seus 6 000 km de extensão e formas
verdadeiramente excepcionais, foi construída ao longo de sete dinastias
durante mais de dois mil anos. Deixa-nos sem respiração, literal e
metaforicamente. Testemunha da história, a Grande Muralha é uma série
monumental de muralhas que foram erguidas para repelir os invasores, e
por onde se pode partir à descoberta de alguns troços que sobreviveram
aos séculos ou foram restaurados. Por onde antes circulavam militares,
cavaleiros e vigias em missões de guerra ou paz, transportando
mensagens, mantimentos ou avisos de perigo, trepam agora milhares
de turistas diariamente. E trepar é mesmo a palavra exacta: há partes
onde se tem de pousar as mãos nos degraus, para se poder continuar a
escalada desta grandiosidade que é Património Mundial da Humanidade.
A mão-de-obra empregue nunca será passível de quantificação. Foi todo
um povo ao longo de centenas e centenas de anos que empregou toda
a sua força, dedicação e esforço para tornar possível esta autêntica glória
da cultura chinesa, e a verdadeira essência da sua cultura.
One of the World’s 7 Wonders
Weaving through the hills and surrounded by mountains, this end
of the Great Wall that twists through the northern landscape of
Beijing, like a scaled dragon has 600 km long. From Tiananmen
Square we can take a ride to visit Badaling, the most reachable
area.
The Great Wall is The Wonder among the wonders. A great and
megalomaniac construction with a total of 6 000 km long and
outstanding shapes was built during seven dynasties for more
than two thousand years. By looking at it we fell breathless
literally and metaphorically speaking. Witness to the history, it
is a monumental chain of walls that were built to keep invaders
away. From here we can discover some parts that survived
through centuries or that were re-built. Nowadays, tourists make
daily walks along the places were in ancient times army soldiers,
horsemen and sentinels ran to deliver war or peace messages,
supplies or even danger signs.
Climb is the perfect word: there are some parts where you
have to place your hands on the steps to continue climbing this
magnificent World Heritage. The labour force used will never be
countable. A whole civilization through hundreds and hundreds of
years employed its entire strength, dedication and effort to make
real this glory and the true essence of the Chinese culture.

apreciam as nobres artes. De entre elas, a sul da praça de Tiananmen,
a Ópera de Pequim eleva-se, combinando canto, drama, dança, diálogo
musical, artes marciais, num colorido resplandecente e estrondoso.
Fatos esplendorosos, e uma caracterização facial extremamente colorida,
em que as cores têm significados simbólicos. Somente três cores eram
utilizadas: vermelho, branco e preto. Vermelho, a cor da lealdade e
coragem. O preto, sugerindo força e rudeza. O branco, revelando um
carácter desconfiado. Mais tarde, outras cores foram gradualmente

Beijing opens up to the world to welcome the sensibility of
the noble arts lovers. South from Tiananmen Square, Peking
Opera raises combining singing, dialogue, dancing and martial
arts in splendour, and pompous blend of colour. The costumes
are amazing and the facial paintings are remarkably colourful,
and each colour has symbolic meanings. Only three colours
where used: Red, white and black. Red, means loyalty and
courage. Black, means strength and toughness. White, reveals a
suspicious character. Later, they gradually added some colours.

Pequim é uma cidade histórica e cultural bastante prolífica, uma montra
da cultura chinesa com muitos e soberbos legados históricos de valor
incalculável. Harmonia, longevidade, paz, tranquilidade perpassam todas
estas obras magnificentes, que apesar da sua megalomania reflectem a
simplicidade da vida, na procura incessante pelos prazeres mais simples
e, concomitantemente, mais difíceis de abraçar.
Mas para se conhecer a cultura chinesa não se pode ficar só pelos
monumentos que a engrandecem. Temos de respirar o ambiente das
ruas, contactar com as gentes, pois só assim se prova e vive o ambiente
de Pequim onde se fala putonghua, conhecido como chinês mandarim.

livros, pergaminhos. Era um centro cultural
florescente onde académicos, pintores e

As a result of history we can find the most
fine silks and handiwork in several kinds
of objects made from pottery, embroidery,
dolls, tapestry, ivory sculptures or carved
jade. These products jump to the eye in
the immense street markets that swarm
around the city, as if they had come from
a fairytale.
In the Pan Ji ayuan market, southeast
from Tiananmen, you can look at old
books, paintings, pottery, coins, porcelain
and opera masks. You will always find
something here for someone, even if you
don’t really want to buy anything. This is a
real paradise for bargain hunters.
Liulichang, is a street transformed into an
old market that looks like a Chinese town.
The shops that surround the street are full
of authentic and convincing imitations of
paintings, handwriting, pottery, tapestry,
vases, books and parchments. Liulichang
was a prosperous cultural centre where
scholars, painters and calligraphists,
gathered to buy materials, exchange ideas,
compose poetry and write books or paint.
Among all Beijing’s treasures this is the

of water and cross the villages and small towns; by train you
can enjoy the snakelike railway on the banks while appreciating

a cruise ship glancing the dazzling beauty of the waters and
breathing the river fragrances while a great scenario, full of

Observing from a belvedere or from the hilltops, our emotions
and sensations awaken.
By foot, in the distance we glimpse the immense hills and
valleys covered by thick vegetation, crossing the schist lands
at the same time as the first granite houses come into sight in
the horizon. Further down, the outlines of Ansiães Castle come
into sight and its three Romantic chapels where the graves
dug in the rocks stand out. Just a few meters ahead, Rio
Douro appears surrounded by endless vineyards built in the
remarkable terraces. Looking at these snakelike “stairways”,
we can at least imagine the endeavour that man undertook to
carve them.
A few traditional farms invite us to discover the Wine Route
and open the doors for the tourists to enjoy the typical wine
tasting sessions.
But in July, the Popular Saints festivities attract hundreds of
people that are delighted by the fire works launched from the
river.
Travelling through The Douro Is admiring the convents and
churches, wonder at the rustic handicraft, tasting its authentic
and rich gourmet dishes and glaze at the delicious landscape

Longe vão os tempos em que decorreram as
anteriores edições daquilo a que a comunidade científica baptizou de
“anos polares”. Em 1882-83 e, mais tarde, em 1932- 33, a discussão
centrou-se no Árctico. A terceira edição (1957-58), que coincidiu com o
Ano Geofísico Internacional, recaíu, então, pela primeira vez, no estudo
sobre os dois pólos do Planeta.
Meio século depois, entre Março de 2007 e o mesmo mês do próximo
ano, mais de 50 mil cientistas e técnicos de 60 países reúnem-se
na quarta edição do evento, preparado sob a égide da Organização
Meteorológica Mundial e do Conselho Internacional para a Ciência.

he study of the Polar Regions and its importance for the
Planet is enough motivation to bring together scientists and
technicians from several nations, in another important step
towards the benefit of Mankind.
The previous editions of what the scientific community
baptized as “polar years” happened in remote times. In 1882-83 and later,
in 1932-33, the debate was centered on the Arctic. The third edition (195758), that corresponded with the International Geophysical Year was based
by then, for the first time, in the study about the two poles of the Planet.
Half century later, between March 2007 and the same month of the next
year, more than 50 thousand scientists and technicians from 60 nations,
meet in the fourth edition of the event, prepared under the guidance of
the World Meteorological Organization and the International Council for
Science.
Consciências despertas (também) em Portugal
Esta é, porventura, a mais importante edição alguma vez realizada,
ou não fosse um dado adquirido o aquecimento global e o acelerado
degelo em ambos os pólos.
Também por isso, a comunidade científica portuguesa quis marcar
presença, entre a “nata” mundial na matéria, através de um Comité
Científico (apoiado a nível governamental) constituído por especialistas
polares provenientes de diversas universidades e instituições nacionais.
Pelo facto da ciência polar lusitana ser muito recente (iniciou-se, apenas,
na década de 90), entre os vários objectivos propostos, destaca-se a
criação de um programa educativo que vise aproximar os cientistas da
sociedade.
Awaken conscience (also) in Portugal
This is, by chance, the most important edition ever accomplished,
because global warming is a certainty as well as the accelerated
melting of both poles. For the exact same reasons, the Portuguese
scientific community wanted to be present among the world’s
“crème de la crème” in this subject, through a Scientific Committee
(supported by government) composed by polar specialists of
several universities and national institutions. Especially because the
Portuguese polar science is very recent (it started, only, in the 90’s),
among the several proposed objectives, the highlight is the creation
of an educational program that seeks to bring the scientists closer
to the society.
Em busca de respostas
As regiões polares exercem um papel fulcral sobre o que se designa
de clima do Planeta, sendo tal visível pelas correntes que geram a
circulação oceânica, a que muitos atribuem o equilíbrio global. A
corrente do Golfo, que transporta, à superfície, enormes quantidades de
calor das altas latitudes para as baixas, é o melhor exemplo disso. Para
muitos, esta está em perigo e, caso pare, poderá gerar uma espécie
de nova idade do gelo. Só por isso, fica bem clara a importância de
dois pólos “saudáveis”. Mas há mais: o gelo polar é o espelho da Terra,
reflectindo a radiação solar. Com o degelo, tal reflexo irá centrar-se mais
no Planeta, gerando maior aquecimento. Por outro lado, caso derreta,
o gelo polar fará aumentar até sete metros o nível da água do mar.
Imagine-se o quão catastróficos tais cenários seriam.
Assim, compreende-se perfeitamente as razões daqueles que tentam
alterar o decurso da aflitiva situação planetária. Estes encaram esta
oportunidade de reunião como sendo a possibilidade de colocar
todo o tipo de questões, cujas respostas possam ajudar a minorar as
consequências de uma problemática que, nunca é demais referir, o
homem gerou.
Searching for answers
The polar regions have a special place in the so called Planet climate,
a fact that is identified in the streams that generate the oceanic
circulation, which many people point out as the responsible for the
global balance. The best example is the Golf Stream, which carries
enormous amounts of heat in its surface from high latitudes to lower
ones. Many people believe, this is in danger and if it stops, it may
generate a new type of ice age. That reveals the importance of
keeping the two poles “healthy”.
But there’s something more: the polar ice is the Earth’s mirror, it
reflects the solar radiation. With the melting, such reflex will be
concentrated on the Planet, generating a higher level of warming.
On the other hand, in case it melts, the polar ice will increase, up to
seven meters, the sea level. Imagine how catastrophic it would be.
So, it’s perfectly understood, why those who try to change the course
of the hazardous global situation, face this meeting opportunity as
the possibility to ask all types of questions, whose answers will help
reduce the consequences of a problem that man created – a fact
that is never too much to say.

Regiões fulcrais para o equilíbrio do Planeta, tanto o Árctico como o Antárctico estão em perigo, devido ao aquecimento
global. Tratam-se de duas regiões com características muito específicas. O Árctico situa-se numa bacia oceânica com
14 milhões de quilómetros quadrados sendo limitado pelo continente euro-asiático (hemisfério oriental) e pelo continente
norte-americano e Gronelândia (hemisfério ocidental). Chamam-lhe o “mar gelado”, sendo a temperatura média medida
entre os -20 ºC e os 5 ºC. O Antárctico é rodeado pelo Oceano Glacial com o mesmo nome, chegando a contar com

The Arctic and Antarctic, two of the most important areas to maintain the Planet’s balance, are in danger due to
the global warming. These two areas have features truly unique. The Arctic is located in an oceanic basin with
14 million square km and has borders with the euro-Asian continent (eastern hemisphere) and with the North
American continent and Greenland (western hemisphere). It is called the “frozen sea” and its average temperature
is between - 20 ºC and 5 ºC. The Antarctic is surrounded by the Glacial Ocean with the exact same name. Here
we can find glaciers plates with about 4 km. This is the coldest place because it has the biggest parcel of ice in
the Planet, where temperatures can reach -80 ºC. In the Arctic there are several Flora and Fauna species, that
don’t exist in the Antarctic, which is not a surprising fact. The same happens, of course, with the remnants of
human life.

Festival INDIELISBOA 2008 24/04 a 04/05
A 5.ª edição do INDIELISBOA que se realiza
este ano homenageia, no âmbito da secção
Herói Independente, os realizadores Johnnie
To e José Luís Guerin, tal como o Novo
Cinema Romeno, com a exibição das melhores
películas e das novas promessas do Leste
Europeu.
O festival, que terá uma programação
composta por cerca de 238 filmes, irá decorrer
ao longo de 11 dias no Fórum Lisboa, Teatro

Música Para Si é uma peça da autoria de
Franz Xaver-Kroetz que vai estar em cena no
Teatro da Malaposta. É uma história que relata
a vida de uma mulher solitária de meia-idade.
Vemo-la entregue ao seu quotidiano, às suas
tarefas necessárias, à sua sobrevivência, à sua
solidão: arruma, lava, fuma, vê televisão, come,
ouve rádio, lava a louça, acaba um tapete, lava-se, vai dormir. O final não é indiferente.
A peça vai estar em cartaz no mês de Maio.

Music for you is a play of Franz Xaver-Kroetz
that will be performed in Teatro Malaposta. Is
an history that relates the life of a middle-aged
woman living alone. We see her absorbed in
her daily routine, all the chores, her survival,
the loneliness – she organizes, she cleans, she
smokes, watches television, eats, listen to the
radio, washes the dishes, finishes a carpet and
goes sleep. The end it’s not indifferent.
The play will be presented in May.

our body. In order to help the body adjust to all
the changes during flight we recommend that
you follow some of these basic rules
» Beware of dehydration Drink lots of liquids – water,
juice, caffeine and alcohol-free drinks. Wetting your face
avoids and reduces the effects caused by dry cabin air;
» Eat light Eat moderately on long haul flights – our menu
is designed to offer our passengers a series of light and
tasty meal options;
» Exercise – Simple and easy – Practise the exercises
given in the next page;
» Walk inside the aircraft when possible without disturbing
flight crew procedures. However, when seated your
seatbelt should be fastened at all times;
» Relax, and if you feel any discomfort during the descent
as a result of cabin pressure variation, yawn and keep
swallowing, block your nose and exhale softly with your
mouth closed;
» Ask for advices to our cabin crew. They will be able
to assist you as well as provide some medication on
board.

da aviação ligeira aos 21 anos e aos 31 do nosso
L1011 de aviação comercial. É um amigo leal aos
princípios de uma profissão exigente e tem prazer
em ensinar, ajudar e transmitir aos outros os seus conhecimentos.

Qual o cargo que ocupa na EAA? Assessor da Administração para a
Área operacional de Voo, Piloto Chefe da euroAtlantic Airways.
Que tipo de trabalho desenvolve? Sou responsável pela
implementação, dia-a-dia, da política da companhia e sua supervisão.
Sou responsável, ainda, pelo estabelecimento dos standards e
disciplina do grupo de Pilotos e pela linha de voo manutenção
dos padrões de acordo com os procedimentos aprovados pela
empresa. Assisto o Director das Operações de Voo, novas políticas,
procedimentos. Ministro cursos de qualificação dos nossos aviões,
checks de simulador e exames. Manter todo o controle de Licenças
e qualificações e seus registos. Todos os tipos de operações são
controlados e supervisionados por uma equipa técnica da qual faço
parte.
Os aviões são uma paixão ou mera casualidade? Desde criança que
os aviões são uma paixão, um sonho sempre desejado e conseguido.
Gosta de viajar? Sim, e muito. Viajar significa voar, por isso é sempre
uma descoberta, uma liberdade.
Além das viagens de negócio, tem o hábito de usar os aviões
como meio de transporte para um destino de férias? Sim, hoje em
dia sem o avião seria impossível desfrutar o prazer de em 24 horas
estar do outro lado do mundo ou numa ilha exótica ao sabor de um
merengue e uma margarita.
Quais os destinos que mais gostou? África é um paraíso por
descobrir. O poder, a força da terra está patente nesse imenso
continente, mas o paraíso existe e está nas Maldivas. É realmente de
sonho e prazer.
Qual é aquele destino que gostaria de conhecer, a sua viagem
de sonho? Felizmente sou um homem de sorte. A euroAtlantic já
me proporcionou 5 voltas ao mundo e devido à nossa operação Any
Where Any Time operamos todos os cantos do globo. Posso dizer
que já estive em todos os continentes incluindo Nauru, ilha da Páscoa,
mas a minha viagem de sonho já a fiz e foi sem dúvida às Maldivas. É
realmente um Paraíso.
O que nunca se esquece de levar na mala? O telemóvel.
Uma máxima? Acreditar em princípios, ser convicto e persistente leva-nos sempre a um final, ao sucesso e conseguir vencer os desafios.
Mesmo nas missões impossíveis sempre se encontra uma solução.

ince he was young his biggest wish was to fly. At
the age of 18 he accomplished his dream. He went
to Africa to discovery the pleasure of flying. With 21
years old he was flying in the small aviation and with
31 he flew our L1011 of commercial aviation. He is
loyal to the principals of a trade that is more and more
challenging. He likes teaching, helping and pass on the his knowledge
to others.

What is your job EAA? Administration Assistant for the operational
Flight Area and Chief Pilot for euroAtlantic Airways.
What kind of work do you develop? I’m responsible for the daily
implementation of the company’s politics and its regulation. I’m
responsible also for the execution of the pilots’ standards, discipline,
flight maintenance line and its patterns according to the approved
procedures for the company. I assist the Flight Operation director
with the new politics and procedures. I teach qualification courses
for our airplanes, simulator checks and exams. I must preserve all
license control, its qualifications and registrations. All operations
are controlled and supervised by a technical team in which I’m
involved.
Are airplanes a passion or a simple eventuality? Airplanes are my
passion since I was a little kid. A wishful dream that came true.
Do you like to travel? Yes, a lot. Travelling means to fly so it’s
always a new discovery, it’s freedom.
Besides business trips, do you usually use airplanes as means
of transportation for vacations? Yes, nowadays it would be
impossible to travel without airplanes, it is a pleasure to be on the
other side of the world or in an exotic island in only 24 hours and
experience the flavour of a merengue and a margarita.
Which location did you liked more? Africa is a paradise still to
discover. The power and the force of the earth are present in that
immense continent. But paradise exists and it is in the Maldives. It’s
really a dreamy and delightful place.
What is that place that you would like to know, your dream
trip? Fortunately I’m a lucky man. euroAtlantic has given me 5 trips
around the world and with the operation “Any Where, Any Time”
we travel all around the globe. I can say I visited all the continents
already, including Nauru in Easter Island. But I already did my dream
travel and it was unquestionably the Maldives. It’s a real paradise.
What do you never forget to pack in the suitcase? The mobile
phone.
A saying? Believe in principles, have convictions and to be persistent
always takes us towards the finish line, successes and triumph in
the challenges. Even in the impossible missions there are always
Pato à Pequim
Beijing Roast Duck
Há uma máxima chinesa que diz: nenhuma visita a Pequim fica
completa se não comer pato assado à Pequim. Este prato é uma
excelente escolha. // According to a Chinese saying: no visit to
Beijing is complete if you don’t eat the Beijing Roast Duck. This is
an excellent choice.
Ingredientes
1 Pato grande
Açúcar
Panquecas
Molho de ameixa
Cebolas pequenas (echalotas)
Preparação
Ponha água a ferver e mergulhe o pato. Faça um pequeno corte para retirar as
vísceras. Repita esta operação algumas vezes até o pato ficar totalmente limpo.
Pendure-o durante 4 horas. Polvilhe a pele com uma camada de açúcar.
Aqueça o forno a 200 ºC. Coloque o pato no forno durante 50-60 minutos, tendo
o cuidado de virá-lo com frequência para obter um assado uniforme.
Corte o pato em fatias finas de modo a que cada uma fique com pele crocante.
Numa panqueca coloque um pouco de molho de ameixa, pequenas lascas de
cebola e alguns pedaços de pato. Enrole a panqueca e dê uma dentada.
O pato está pronto. Ficará surpreendido com o seu óptimo sabor!
Ingredients
1 Big Duck
Sugar
Pancakes
Plum Sauce
Small Onions (Shallots)
Preparation
Boil some water and immerse the duck. Make a small incision to remove of the
entrails. Repeat this until the duck is finally clean. Hang the duck for approximately
4 hours. Sprinkle the skin with sugar. Turn the oven on at 200º C. Put the duck
inside for approximately 50-60 minutes. Keep turning it over to ensure an even
roast. Cut the duck in small slices keeping a piece of crispy skin on each. Put some
plum sauce in a pancake, few slices of onion and duck. Roll it and eat it.
The duck is ready. You will be surprised with this tasteful gourmet.
