IKEBANA* DEMONSTRATION AND WORKSHOP By Brazil Native Katia Santos Kyoju Instructor, Sangetsu School of Ikebana September 10, 2014 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Albuquerque Garden Center 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 In 1979, Katia Santos studied Sangetsu at the National Headquarters of Ikebana Sangetsu, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She had the opportunity to train with the school’s headmaster for 3 years and received her Jyo-Kyoju title prior to moving to New York in 1993. Wishing to do more expansion work, Katia continued to progress in her studies by earning the second level certificate. In 1999 she traveled to Japan for her final examination and was awarded the Kyoju-Ho title. Katia is now one of three directors in charge of the Ikebana Sangetsu USA School. The school is responsible for planning events, organizing studies, academic curriculum, and instructors’ continuing education. Desiring to create a world of beauty through elevating each individual’s spiritual awareness, Katia continues to participate in various community events and exhibits with the firm commitment to bring as many people as possible in contact with flowers.
