Em comemoração ao Halloween separamos três lendas horripilantes
para nossos alunos! Confiram!
The Vanishing Hitchhiker
Um “hitchhiker” é alguém que pede carona. Nessa história, trata-se de uma menina que
pede carona para as pessoas e, logo em seguida, “vanishes” (desaparece). A forma de
desaparecer varia: pode ser no meio da viagem de dentro do carro em movimento, ou no
dia seguinte, quando a pessoa que deu carona vai procurá-la na casa dela e descobre que
a menina morreu há anos. O dia da carona seria a data de aniversário da morte da
menina. Por se tratar de um fantasma, a história também é conhecida como “ghostly
hitchhiker” (caronista fantasmagórica).
The Clown Statue
Essa história é de uma “babysitter” (babá) que estava cuidando das crianças enquanto
os pais estavam fora jantando. Ao ver uma “disturbing clown statue” (estátua de
palhaço perturbadora) no canto da sala, a babá liga para os pais das crianças e pergunta
se pode cobri-la. O pai a orienta a sair da casa naquele instante e chamar a polícia. Ela
obedece e, depois, descobre que o pai fez isso porque eles nunca tiveram uma estátua de
palhaço. Era um anão vestido de palhaço que estava escondido na casa para pegar as
crianças.
Carmen Winstead
Em tempos de internet vale citar uma “urban legend” surgida numa “chain letter”,
“chain e-mail” ou “round-robin e-mail”, ou seja, uma corrente de e-mails. Segundo a
corrente, Carmen Winstead era uma menina de 17 anos que sofria bullying e foi
empurrada em um “sewer drain” (dreno de esgoto) por um grupo de meninas. Elas
alegaram que ela caiu e, pelo que se conta, a polícia acreditou. Carmen voltou e matou
as meninas. E as correntes insistem que você, claro, repasse o e-mail, com a mensagem:
“She was pushed” (Ela foi empurrada). Caso contrário, Carmen “will come after you”
(virá atrás de você).

THE VANISHING HITCHHIKER
A “hitchhiker” is a person who asks for a lift. This story, is about a girl who asks
for lift to people and after it, she vanishes. The way she vanishes may vary: it can be in
the middle part of the trip with the car in movement, or on the following day, when the
person who gave her the lift goes to her house and finds out the girl has died for years.
The day of the lift would be the date of her dead anniversary. It can be a ghost, this
story is also known like “ghostly hitchhiker”.
THE CLOWN STATUE
This story is about a babysitter who was taking care of some children while their
parents were out having dinner. When she saw a disturbing clown statue on the corner
of the room, the babysitter call their parents and asks if she can cover it. The dad says
her to leave the house at that moment and call the police. She obeys and, soon, she
discovers the dad did it because they had never had a statue like this one. It was a dwarf
dressed in clown who was hidden in the house to take the kids.
CARMEN WINSTEAD
On internet times it is good to quote an urban legend which appeared on a chain
letter, chain e-mail or round-robin e-mail, i.e., a chain of e-mails. According to this
chain, Carmen Winstead was a seventeen year old girl who suffered bullying and was
pushed to a sewer drain for a group of girls. They claimed that she fell down and,
according to what they say, the police believed. Carmen came back and killed these
girls. And the chains insist on you, of course to pass the e-mail, with the message: She
was pushed. Otherwise, Carmen will come after you.
