UM GIGANTE NA
TRAVESSA
A GIANT AT
O enigmático gigante de João Noutel deixou-nos vestígios da sua passagem
pela Travessa Marta Pinto, em Belém. Atraído pela magia da Travessa da
Ermida, um espaço histórico onde as iniciativas culturais e turísticas estabelecem a ponte entre o passado e o presente, seja na galeria Ermida Nossa
Senhora da Conceição, na enoteca, na Oficina de Joalharia ou na rua, palco de
memórias e lugar de animação. Até 25 de Maio, o ‘Giant – The Voyeur Project’
habita a antiga Ermida, anunciando um ser de dimensões desmedidas cuja
presença é apenas denunciada pelos binóculos desmesurados que perde no
seu longo percurso de descoberta. Inspirado na obra de Claes Oldenburg, Noutel estabelece a relação com o simbolismo iconográfico da focalização através
de enormes esculturas negras em poliuretano e fibra de vidro, um exercício de
reinterpretação da realidade traduzido em misteriosas narrativas. ::
João Noutel’s enigmatic giant has left traces of his passage through Travessa
Marta Pinto, in Belém. No doubt, the attraction was the magical Travessa da
Ermida. This historical space offers cultural and touristic initiatives that establish
a link between past and present, be it in the gallery Ermida Nossa Senhora da
Conceição, at the wine shop, in the Jewellery Studio or out in the street, offering
a setting for memories and entertainment. Until the 25th of May, ‘Giant – The
Voyeur Project’ will inhabit the former hermitage, evoking a being of such enormous proportions, whose presence is simply suggested by the giant binoculars
which have been lost on his long voyage of discovery. Inspired by the work of
Claes Oldenburg, Noutel establishes a relationship between the iconographic
symbolism of focussing, using enormous black sculptures in polyurethane and
fibre glass, that create an exercise in the reinterpretation of reality translated into
mysterious narratives. ::
