In particular, this project aims to promote the socio-economic development of Brazil through Higher Education with emphasis in the thematic areas of engineering and technology, education and teacher training, and social sciences, which were defined as priority areas. This project also aims to promote knowledge transfer and capacity building gained by European HEIs during their 20 years of experience, within the scope of the Erasmus Program, in benefit of Brazilian Higher Education Institutions. Finally, we sought to ensure that all this will be implemented in full respect and safeguard of Brazil’s cultural identity and idiosyncratic traits and characteristics. Brief description: To attain the objectives above mentioned we are creating a consortium of 20 HEIs: 10 from 8 EU countries (Northern, Western, Central, Southern and Eastern Europe) and 10 from all 5 regions of Brazil (North, Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South). 200 mobility flows have been designed to meet the project goals: 160 from Brazil to EU (72 undergraduates, 69 doctorates, 3 post-doc and 16 teaching staff) and 40 from Europe to Brazil (18 undergraduates, 17 doctorates, 1 post-doc and 4 teaching staff). These flows were determined in accordance with Brazil’s priorities, and the selection of institutions in Europe was based on their quality and on the thematic areas on offer; the institutions in Brazil were selected regarding their profile and development stage and the country socioeconomic development.
