Jose Barbosa `01 Term: 2012-2015 [email protected]—(914) 316-4891 Jose L. Barbosa is an R&D Group Leader at Keurig Green Mountain. Jose began his food science career at Pepsi as a temporary employee with an 8 day contract in May 2001. After an amazing 12 1/2 years he is now pursuing new exciting opportunities at Keurig Green Mountain. His last assignment for Pepsi was with the Starbucks-PepsiCo Partnership. Prior to that he spent 3.5 years in the Cola Innovation team (PD) developing the Next Generation cola for Pepsi: Pepsi Next! As a Product Developer he is charged with developing safe, stable, legal and great tasting products globally. His work is literally sweet! He has also worked on challenging projects like Leading Mirinda Orange World Wide, Re-Launching KAS Grapefruit in Mexico, re-launching Schwip Schwap in Germany, and launching Pepsi Kick in Latin America. His new projects and opportunities will be as a Group Leader in beautiful (and yes..cold!) Vermont. Jose graduated from Antilles High School in Ft. Buchanan, Puerto Rico in 1997 and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology from Manhattanville College in 2001. In 2013 he completed his Masters of Food Science through Rutgers University. Jose has remained involved with Manhattanville via Power Dinners at the college and Open House panels, but more significantly by facilitating the placement of more than a handful of Manhattanville students in science positions at PepsiCo’s Research and Development campus. Some of his other extracurricular activities while with PepsiCo include Co-founding the Valhalla Volunteers Committee, leading the Hispanic/Latino employee resource group (ERG) Adelante, and achieving Competent Communicator (CC) status in Toastmasters, a non-profit organization that helps develop public speaking and leadership skills. “I am excited to have joined the Alumni Association Board in 2013 and look forward to working with Manhattanville to help rebuild their relationship with one of their corporate neighbors. I also look forward to creating new and exciting events for the Manhattanville Community.”
