In the year of the celebration of the 400 year gone
by the birth of the priest António Vieira, the island
of Madeira joins these celebrations, through the
Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture/
Department of Cultural Affairs.
The Vieirino Year, an initiative of the Faculty of
Humanities of the Catholic University of Lisbon,
Philosophy Study Centre from the Faculty of Arts
and of the Philosophy Centre from the University
of Lisbon, and of the “Província da Companhia
de Jesus”, has been celebrated around the world
making possible the involvement of all institutions
and interested, becoming that way a year of
celebration.
During the month of October, from the 17th
October on, in the University of Madeira, there
is presented an exhibition concerning this Jesuit
Priest, followed by a conference and an evocation
of a sermon of the Priest António Vieira by the
actor Luís Miguel Cintra in Colégio Church.
