From 5-8 December nine art fairs will be presenting Brazilian galleries at Art Basel
Miami, Context, Art Miami, Scope, and Brazil Untitled Art Fair. The Latitude Project Platform for Brazilian Art Galleries Abroad, a partnership between the Brazilian
Association of Contemporary Art (ABACT) and the Brazilian Agency for Promotion of
Exports and Investments (Apex - Brazil) helps the international promotion of the
Brazilian contemporary art galleries, in December, will support actions in Miami
(EUA) one of most important fairs in the world.
Participating in the main fair Art Basel Miami Beach will be 13 galleries: A Gentil Carioca ,
Anita Schwartz Gallery, Baró Gallery, Casa Triângulo, Fortes Vilaca Gallery, Leme Gallery,
Luisa Strina Gallery ,Millan Gallery , Nara Roesler Gallery, Luciana Brito Gallery, Mendes
Wood MD, Silvia Cintra, + Box4 and Red. The Project support also extends to Athena
Contemporary, present at the fair CONTEXT, the Bolsa de Arte de Porto Alegre at ART
MIAMI fair. Other galleries as Central, Emma Thomas, Train, Logo, Mercedes Viegas and
Paralelo Contemporary Art Gallery will be in Brazil Art Fair. Logo Gallery, participates at
SCOPE and Pilar in the UNTITLED.
In addition to direct support to the galleries, the Latitude promotes the dissemination of
information on the Brazilian art scene to an international audience through parallel events.
This year will be promoted in partnership with CIFO (The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation
) a debate open to the public with the theme: "Brazil in Latin America", placing Brazil's
relationship with the neighboring countries in the context of contemporary art, happens
Saturday 07/ 12 at 11am at the space foundation (1018 North Miami Avenue
Miami, Florida
33136). Participating in the event Jesus Fuenmayor, director of CIFO, the director of MAM
Rio de Janeiro - Luiz Camillo Osorio, and the curators of Museum of Fine Arts Boston Jen
Mergel and Liz Munsell.
The second edition of the Research Sector sponsored by Latitude pointed out that Art
Basel Miami Beach is the leading international trade fair for conducting business, which is
certainly related to their location and profile of your audience. "I believe that this
preference is due mainly to the diverse audience, but very skilled and focused on the
acquisition of works that attends the fair. There one can find buyers from all five
continents and, although they know what they want, are open to rising markets, such as
Brazil", says Monica Novaes Esmanhotto, Latitude’s project manager.

Instalação Projeto Latitude – Platform for Brazilian Art Galleries Abroad, parceria entre a
Associação Brasileira de Arte Contemporânea (ABACT) e a Agência Brasileira de Promoção
de Exportações e Investimentos (Apex-Brasil) para a promoção internacional do setor
brasileiro de galerias de arte contemporânea, promove, em dezembro, sua maior ação em
Miami na história do projeto.
Participando somente na feira Art Basel Miami Beach serão 13 galerias associadas ao
Latitude: A Gentil Carioca, Anita Schwartz Galeria de Arte, Baró Galeria, Casa Triângulo,
Galeria Fortes Vilaça, Galeria Leme, Galeria Luisa Strina, Galeria Millan, Galeria Nara Roesler,
Luciana Brito Galeria, Mendes Wood DM, Silvia Cintra + Box4 e Vermelho. O apoio do projeto
também estende-se à Athena Contemporânea, presente na feira CONTEXT, à Bolsa de Arte
de Porto Alegre, na feira ART MIAMI; às galerias Central, Emma Thomas, Estação, Logo,
Mercedes Viegas Arte Contemporânea e Paralelo Gallery na Brazil Art Fair; à Logo, na
SCOPE e à Pilar, na UNTITLED.
Como sempre tem feito, além do apoio direto às galerias, o Latitude promove a
disseminação da informação sobre o cenário artístico brasileiro para um público
internacional por meio de eventos paralelos. Neste ano, será promovido em parceria com a
CIFO (The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation) um debate aberto ao público com o tema:
“Brasil na América Latina”, situando a relação do Brasil com os países vizinhos no contexto
da arte contemporânea. Este evento ocorre no sábado, dia 07/12, às 11h, no espaço da
fundação. Participam do evento Jesus Fuenmayor, diretor da CIFO, o diretor do MAM-RJ,
Luiz Camilo Osório e os curadores do Museum of Fine Arts Boston Jen Mergel e Liz Munsell.
A segunda edição da Pesquisa Setorial promovida pelo Latitude apontou que Art Basel
Miami Beach é a principal feira internacional para a realização de negócios, o que
certamente está relacionado com sua localização e o perfil de seu público. “Acredito que
essa predileção se deva, sobretudo, ao público diversificado, mas bastante qualificado e
focado na aquisição de obras que frequenta a feira. Ali é possível encontrar compradores
de todos os cinco continentes e que, embora saibam o que desejam, estão abertos a
mercados em ascensão, como o brasileiro”, diz Mônica Novaes Esmanhotto, gerente do
projeto Latitude.

Sobre o Projeto Latitude
Instalação Projeto de Promoção Internacional do Mercado de Arte Contemporânea
Brasileiro foi criado em 2007 pela Apex-Brasil em parceria com a Fundação Bienal de São
Paulo e o segmento de galerias nacionais do mercado primário com o objetivo de fomentar
as exportações brasileiras deste setor.
Em 2011, a Fundação Bienal de São Paulo passou a gerência do projeto para ABACT. Hoje,
o projeto Latitude representa 46 galerias de arte contemporânea em seis diferentes
estados brasileiros, promovendo o trabalho de cerca de mil artistas.
