Aquinas College is a wonderful school, it gives a lot of attention to international students
and tries to make them have a really good time in new Zealand.
The College has only 750 students, which makes it possible to give attention to each
student and the teachers really care about us. If you have any problems, the International
Dean will always be there to help you, no matter if is a problem at school, at home or
with other people.
The ESOL teacher also helps us a lot. In ESOL classes we learn how to improve our
English by improving our reading, writing, spelling and pronunciation, so that we can
learn English faster and better.
What is really strange at first is the uniform, because you have to wear everything from
school, including shorts and sandals. But after a while you start to get used to it and see
that is not so bad, because you don’t have to choose what you will wear and won’t get
your clothes dirty.
People at Aquinas College are very open and welcoming, so it doesn’t take long to make
nice friends. And also here there is no bullying, everybody knows everybody and respects
each other.
The main differences between Aquinas and Brazilian colleges is that here we have big
fields and separated blocks (science, technology, humanities, gymnasium) and also here
the students move from class to class, and not the teachers, so for each subject you have a
different class.
Also the city of Tauranga is very exciting and being here is never boring. There is a nice
city, but there is also a beautiful landscape and natural features such as Mount
Maunganui, which makes the city look very similar to Rio de Janeiro with its Pão de
Açúcar mountain.
So if you are an exchange student certainly you must go to Aquinas College, where your
experience in New Zealand will be greater than anywhere else!
O colégio Aquinas é uma escola muito boa, aqui eles dão bastante atenção para os
estudantes internacionais e fazem o máximo para que eles tenham uma ótima estadia aqui
em Tauranga.
O colegio tem só 750 alunos, o que facilita para que eles possam dar atenção a todos,
então aqui eles realmente se importam com os agente. Se você tivewr algum problema, a
cordenadora internacional vai sempre te ajudar e estar ali pra te ajudar, mesmo que o
problema não seja na escola.
O professor de ESOL (ingles pra internacionais) também nos ajuda bastante. Nas aulas de
ESOL agente agente aprende a melhorar o ingles tanto na fala, como na escrita, o que
ajuda a aprender ingles mais rapido e melhor.
O que é realmente diferente das escolas do Brasil é o uniforme, porque aqui você tem que
usar tudo da escola, inclusive sandália e shorts. Mas depois de um tempo você se
acostuma e ve que não é tão ruim assim porque pelomenos você não tem que escolher o
que vai vestir e nem vai sujar sua roupa, só o uniforme.
As pessoas aqui no Aquinas sã bastante abertas e amigaveis, então não demora muito pra
fazer bons amigos. O bom é que aqui também não tem exclusão, porque todo mundo se
conhece e se respeita.
Outras difereça entre as escolas do Brasil é que aqui a escola é construida em extensão,
entao tem bastante espaço. Outra coisa é que aqui quem se move entre as classes são os
alunos, e não os professores então as classes são separadas em blocos (tecnologia, exatas,
humanas, ginásio...).
Além do mais Tauranga é uma cidade muito legal e nunca é intediante ficar aqui. Tem a
parte da cidade que é super legal mas também tem a parte de natureza que é super bonita
como o Mount Manganui por exemplo, que faz a cidade parecer o Rio de Janeiro com o
Pão de Açúcar.
Então se você é um estudante internacional você deve ir pro Aquinas, porque aqui sua
experiencia na Nova Zelandia vai ser muito melhor do que em qualquer outro lugar!
