especially in the surrounding areas of the three
golf courses. For us, golfers, it becomes a quality certificate in ecological interdependence and
in purity of this space to which we would like to
belong. Although the many birds are the most
notorious species, there are also rabbits, hares,
foxes, otters and water rats, tortoises, fish, amphibians, mollusks, reptiles, insects, and other
animals that form an ecological landscape admired by the visitors. The indigenous vegetation
with its flowering and release of fragrances is

obviously very important for the landscape embellishment too. It is also a protective and food
stronghold for the indigenous wildlife that has to
be taken into consideration and preserved. Apart
from the contrast and temporal alternation of
the blooming of exotic plants at the superb villas,
the wild vegetation completes the soil coverage
and harmonizes the overall image. In view of the
progressive occupation and construction of the
plots established by Quinta do Lago Plan, the
areas of native vegetation will be gradually re-

duced. However, the environmental protection of
that endemic genuineness may also continue in
the different bands of non-building areas envisaged in the Plan, requiring non-human intrusion
except for cleaning or for eradicating the weed
coming from the gardens. That is my purpose for
the characterization of the Non-Playable areas of
São Lorenzo Golf Course.
