Em encontro na biblioteca do ISCTE, foi-nos dito que um dos temas para
exposições, sugerido pelos utilizadores, respeitava a guerras do século XX.
Diversamente de muitas outras épocas, o século XX não pode ser pensado
sem as guerras que, na centúria, adquiriram novas dimensões, durações, envolvimentos
e reconfigurações. Com teatros de operações mundiais, que deixaram de fora muito
poucos Estados, com combates na terra, no mar e no ar, envolvendo de formas nunca
antes experimentadas as populações civis de todos os continentes, as guerras no
século XX constituem um eixo crucial para a sua compreensão.
Nesta exposição, procurou-se mostrar alguns dos fundos bibliográficos da
