CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY New Student Orientation, Webinars, and CAU Experience Week Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Where can I receive information regarding orientation? A: The New Student Orientation (NSO) Office is located in CAU Modular #13, which will provide the primary information regarding New Student Orientation, Webinars, and the CAU Experience. The NSO office may be reached at 404 880 8075 or email [email protected] . Q: Why is orientation required? A: New Student Orientation is a tradition at CAU. It is designed to provide important information related to academic expectations and campus resources (e.g., financial aid, student accounts, on-campus living, student health, and other related information.) The major outcome of orientation is for all students to become enrolled satisfactorily by completing the registration process, which is inclusive of creating a fall schedule, financial aid packaging, and payment arrangements Q: Must I attend both the “traditional” on-campus orientation and “webinar?” A: Students may select either the “traditional” on-campus orientation or participate in a “webinar.” As another option, students electing to participate in the “traditional” oncampus orientation may also join a webinar to further enrich understandings about CAU. Q: When and how can I sign up for Orientation? A: Once the Matriculation Fee is paid, new students will receive an “Orientation Packet,” which will include orientation dates and other pertinent information. The CAU website also provides important orientation forms. Q: What is my University ID number? A: Maintaining a safe campus environment is an important value and practice of CAU. One manner of safety is the security of a student’s social security number. Each student is given a “900” number as a personal identifier in lieu of using the social security number. Q: How can I pay my Matriculation Fee? A: The Matriculation Fee of $625 is made payable to Clark Atlanta University and must be mailed to the Office of Admission, 223 James P. Brawley Drive, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30314. A cashier’s check or money order are the only forms of payment via mail; however, a credit or debt card payment is arranged through the Office of Student Accounts, 404.880.8527. Students experiencing extenuating circumstances with regard to paying the Matriculation Fee must contact Ms. Michelle Davis, Interim Director of the Office of Admission, 404.880.8021, [email protected] or Dr. D. Jason De Sousa, Vice President of Enrollment Services and Student Affairs, 404.880.8787, [email protected]. Q: How much does orientation cost, including participation in the webinar? A: The “traditional “on campus orientation and the webinar cost is covered with the payment of your matriculation fee of $625.00 Q: What if I am unavailable to attend any of the dates open to me A: New Student Orientation, which could include a webinar, is mandatory. Q: Can I sign up on the same orientation date as my friend? A: Yes. Q: What if I need to change my confirmed orientation date? A: Contact the Office of New Student Orientation at 404.880.8075 or [email protected]. Q: Can my family attend orientation with me? A: While family members are welcome to visit the campus during orientation, most activities are centered on students, though parents/guardians are welcome to participate and would likely be pivotal during the financial aid process and billing. Q: What do I bring to Orientation? A: Refer to the confirmation packet for a listing of all need items, which will be sent by the Office of New Student Orientation.
