Das fast 370-seitige Buch wurde am 9.
Oktober 2008 in Anwesenheit von Brigadier Ralph James und in Gegenwart weiterer hoher Offiziere im Hauptquartier der
irischen Luftwaffe in Baldonnel, Dublin der
Öffentlichkeit erstmals vorgestellt. Brigadier Ralph James zeigte sich sehr interessiert an diesem Buch und gratulierte dem
Autor zu ersten umfassenden Veröffentlichung über die irische Militärpostgeschichte. Dabei zeigte er sich beeindruckt, dass
dieses Thema von einem Deutschen abgehandelt wurde.
Das Buch kostet 48 € einschließlich Verpackung, aber ohne Porto. Das Gewicht
beträgt ca. 1,1 kg.
The book comprising almost 370 pages
has been launched on 9th November 2008
in the presence of the Commander-inChief of the Irish Air Corps Brigadier Ralph
James and in the presence of other high
ranking officers in the Headquarters of the
Irish Air Corps in Baldonnel, Dublin.
Brigadier Ralph James was very
interested in the book and congratulated
the author for the first comprehensive
publication of the Irish military postal
history. He was further impressed that it
was written by a German.
During the STAMPA-Banquet the book
has also been handed over to the
STAMPA-committee as a FAI-present.
The book is divided in 10 chapters and
starts with the Early Irish Military Penny
Post. In further chapters an extensive
documentation of the postmarks and mail
of the Irish Military Camps and Barracks
and Department of Defence etc. is given.
Special chapters are dedicated to the
Military Aviation as well as to the Naval
Forces in Ireland, the British Military Mail
in Northern Ireland after 1922 and the
United States Military Mail in Ireland since
1917. A chapter covering the Mail of the
Prisoner of War Camps to and from
Ireland in World War I and World War II is
also part of this handbook. Finally the mail
of Irish Defence Forces on overseas
service with the United Nations or other
international organisations.
The book is written in English, however,
with a preface in German and a German
translation of the list of the postmarks and
cancels.
The Price is 48 € including packaging,

Am STAMPA-Festabend wurde das Buch
dann auch offiziell dem STAMPA –
Komitee als Geschenk der FAI übergeben.
Das Buch selbst ist aufgeteilt in 10 Kapitel
und beginnt mit der Zeit der ersten irischen Militär-Penny Post. In weiteren Kapiteln werden die Post und Stempel der
verschiedenen Militärlager und des Verteidigungsministeriums etc. dargestellt.
In weiteren Kapiteln wird die Post der englisch und irischen Luftwaffe und Marine
beschrieben, sowie die Post der USMilitärs in Irland und Kriegsgefangenenpost im 1. und 2. Weltkrieg. Das Kapitel
über die Post der irischen UNO- und sonstiger irischer internationalen Einheiten rundet das Buch ab.
Das Buch ist in englischer Sprache geschrieben, allerdings mit einem Vorwort in
deutsch und deutscher Bezeichnung der
Liste der verschiedenen Stempel etc..
