We made it, we reached
the final day!
Last day of competition; All the
players showed a lot of sportsmanship
and tried their best to conquer the
course showing amazing results and
incredible golf. The weather improved
a lot and the Swiss autumn eventually
showed its best and beautiful side!
The energy and the competition spirit
on the golf course were perceptible.
The atmosphere – also helped by
the magic dew in the morning – was
magical. Rob greeted all the players
with his amazing Scottish accent and
the magnificent tone. For one last day
some of the players, not used to this,
could feel like real pro. I hope they
will remember that feeling once home,

the next time they will set a foot on
their home course, because they really
deserved it.
The closing ceremony is taking place
right now – the award ceremony
saw some very proud players on
the podium – and what I hear, are
happy voices and tingling glasses and
nice music. I guess it’s a good sign,
meaning that this European University
Championship has been a success
and everyone will go home, probably
tired but happy and with some nice
memories tomorrow!
Have a safe trip and keep up with the
good work!

Lucas Dinouard, University St. Gallen team

Today I exchanged a few words with
a member of the hosting team, the
young quiet but determined guy
Lucas is.
as possible for the University Golf
Team of St. Gallen and eventually
be qualified for more international
Universities events.
How old are you and since when
do you play golf?
I‘m 18 years old right now and have
been playing golf for 15 years. I started
very young, when I was only 3 years
old!
How did the tournament go? You
were the youngest in the St. Gallen
team and the big hope. Did you feel
the pressure?
A bit disappointed with my scores
even if the rest of the team seems
satisfied. I had not much pressure
even though it was my first competition for the team and I had to make my
proofs. I had the chance to play a lot
of international tournaments representing Switzerland so I was used to it.
The team treated me greatly!
Tell us about your golf career and
your goals for the future...
I entered the regional team of Switzerland when I was 12 years old and
then finally entered the national team
at 14 and kept playing for the national
league since then. Starting HSG this
year, I will put golf a bit aside and
focus more on my studies, as I already
reached my goal for this year entering
the WAGR. But for the future, I will
do my best to bring the best scores

country, and, in fact, in St. Gallen. As I
said, I just started the assessment year
at HSG, so I was still able to be there
for some classes even though this
competition was taking place.
What did you think of the
organisation?
The organisation was excellent form
my point of view, thanks to the many
volunteers. We had drinks, food,
and transport for those who needed,
forecaddies, recording area, etc.
Everything was well coordinated and
the tournament took place perfectly.
(We wouldn‘t wait less from Switzerland)

What is special for you to play an
international championship in your
home country?
I had a lot of chance that this first
international tournament was in my
EUC Golf 2015

A short „Question and Answer“
with the Technical Delegate, Rob
Macpherson about upcoming EUSA
Golf events in the near future.
Rob, what’s your role going to be
in next year’s EUGames in Zagreb/
Rijeka?
Basically the same as here, I will be
tournament director and I am excited
about it, since for the first time Golf
is part of the EUGames. Furthermore,
this event is presenting the students
with an exciting opportunity to experience a multi sport event, as they can
learn a lot from other sportsmen and,
on top of it, make new friendships.

What about the next EUC Golf in
Liberec in 2017?
Liberec will be ready for this event
as they hosted the WUGames
around 6 years ago and are therefore
experienced. Liberec is a lively city
with a challenging golf course and,
hopefully, good weather!
