First known publication of poems
Cosigns the Belgian Surrealist manifesto “Pas de quartiers dans la revolution”
Works in Brussels as a freelance writer and dealer of antiquarian books
Publication of his first poetry collection “Mon livre d’Ogre” and his first film “La Clef de l’Horloge, un poème cinématographique (en l’honneur de Kurt Scwitters)”
• Moves to Paris and works as a freelance journalist
• Returns to Brussels
• Creates first objects using mussels, eggshells, coal and bricks
• Authors additional publications and expands his artistic work using media such as film, photography, audiotapes and slides
• Completes film “Le Corbeau et le Renard (d’après La Fontaine)”
• Begins a series of editions in vacuum-formed plastic
• Founds the “Musée d’Art Moderne, Département des Aigles” in his home on rue de la Pépinière, Brussels. Presents several sections of the “Musée d’Art Moderne, Département des Aigles” as a discussion of the term ‘museum’ and its function
• Moves to Düsseldorf
• Terminates the “Musée d’Art Moderne, Département des Aigles” upon completion of its last section (a contribution to Documenta 5 in Kassel)
• Moves to London
• Stays in Berlin in the context of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). A series of six solo exhibitions open between September 1974 and October 1975 where Broodthaers further specifies the concept of his artwork.
• Dies on January 28 in Cologne
