ICEWISDOM—Melting the Ice in the Heart of Man­—Sirmiq Aattuq Uummatinnit
Melting the Ice in the Heart of Man – Sirmiq Aattuq
Uummatinnit – is a teaching from the people of Greenland
– Kalaallit-Nunaat – an ancient culture that has never known
war. It summons us to bridge the distance from our minds
to our hearts through strength and gentleness, bringing
about personal transformation and global healing.
Along with images of Greenland, the Ice Wisdom 2011
Calendar chronicles a Sacred Fire Ceremony held there
that honored the spiritual significance of climate change.
Ashes from Sacred Fires around the world – from Asia
to the Americas to the heart of Africa – provided the
foundation of the fire. Similar fires burned around the
globe on the same day in support of this ceremony.

Melting the Ice in the Heart of Man – Sirmiq Aattuq Uummatinnit – is a
teaching from the people of Greenland – Kalaallit-Nunaat – an ancient
culture that has never known war. It summons us to bridge the distance
from our minds to our hearts through strength and gentleness,
bringing about personal transformation and global healing.
Along with images of Greenland, the Ice Wisdom 2011 calendar
chronicles a Sacred Fire Ceremony held there that honored the
spiritual significance of climate change. Ashes from Sacred Fires
around the world – from Asia to the Americas to the heart of Africa –
provided the foundation of the fire. Similar fires burned around the
globe on the same day in support of this ceremony.
The ceremony was conducted by Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq,
