We cordially would like to invite you to: Prof. Lai Xiuchou Pipa and Chinese poem November 7th, 2012 The pipa is a four-stringed Chinese musical instrument, belonging to the plucked category of instruments. It is one of the most popular Chinese instruments and has been played for almost two thousand years in China. Sometimes called the Chinese lute, the instrument has a pear-shaped wooden body with a varying number of frets ranging from 12 to 26. Taiwan famous Pipa performer Lai Xiuchou is the professor of Taipei national University of the Arts and Chinese Culture University of music. In this special concert, you can hear the most authentic Chinese and German translations of classical Chinese poems. Professor Lai Xiuchou will play the pipa music. We will explain the history behind the music and literature, culture and aesthetic view to t audience.
