Wood is an important renewable raw material.
It has a high availability within Bavaria but also within the nearby Alp-regions, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.
With over 200,000 employees and more than
30 billion Euro of revenue the forestry and timber industry is an important branch of the Bavarian economy.
As a raw material wood is very much in demand, especially due to its versatile use as an energy source, as a
base material for the chemical industry and also as a
building and basic material, which represents the widest
area of its application.
Wood is most frequently used for interior finishing and
residential construction as well as for state-of-the-art
bridges and impressive large-scale projects. A bold stress
ribbon bridge in Gera, a technically brilliant airport terminal in Paris or entire city architectures in Norway are
impressive examples of wood design and functionality.

With this in mind, Bayern Innovativ Ltd. has conceived for the fifth time the symposium “Holz
Innovativ” with an accompanying exhibition. The
congress will be organised in collaboration with the
Forest and Wood Cluster, the German Society for
Wood Research (DGfH), the Wood Research of the
Technical University Munich, the University of Applied
Sciences Rosenheim and with the comprehensive
support of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic
Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology.
Experts from industry and science will present the
latest developments and emerging trends. The topics
focus on the utilisation of timber resources with the
optimisation of logistics, building extension, tomorrow's wood architecture, novel high-tech wood-based
composites and the development of new customer
and market segments.
This international meeting point for science and
industry brings experts and potential users together,
offering practical information and – together with the
accompanying exhibition – forms an ideal platform
where contacts will be initiated for future cooperations.
