Eduroam (EN)
General
The following wireless networks are available in all
locations at the University of Applied Arts:
Eduroam: main wireless network for staff,
students, guests and members of other
universities.
For the eduroam wireless network use your
valid access (p-Number or s-Number with the
associated password) data of the
„Angewandte“.
Please note: In this case you have to add
“@uni-ak.ac.at” (for employees) or @
student.uni-ak.ac.at (for students). Your
access data can be used in every eduroam
participating institutions. See also:

Configuration
IEEE 802.1x (ssid = eduroam)
For more information on configuring the 802.1x access
on any workstation.
Some universities have different security settings.
Here are the most common combinations:
Security settings on the
Angewandte
Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption type: TKIP
Security settings in some
other eduroam participants
Security Type: 802.1x
Encryption Type: WEP
Configuration
In XP
Click on the wireless icon ( bottom right in the task
bar)
On the window that appears, click „Change advanced
settings “ .
Go to the tab “Wireless Networks”
Set the “Use Windows to configure my settings”.
Click “Add …”
Remove all the settings of the image below , and then
switch to the “Authentication” tab.
Remove all the settings of the image below, and then
click “Properties” .
Remove all the settings of the image below , and then
click “Configure …” .
Remove the check mark and click “OK”.
Put in the “Connection” tab, mark it , and click
“OK”.
The „eduroam wireless “ is now in the list of
Preferred Networks .
Click on “OK”.
“Connection”
Select the network “eduroam” and click “Connect”
The connection is established:
Click this pop-up window soon as it appears.
Then you type in [email protected] or
[email protected] as username and the
password of your account .
The input field „Logon domain: “ you can leave it
blank and click “OK”.
Now you are connected to the “eduroam WLAN”.
With Vista
Click the network icon ( bottom right in the task
bar) and then select “Connect to a network” .
This displays a list of all currently available
networks.
Select the network “eduroam” and click “Connect”
Click the “Select or enter additional credentials” on
.
Now enter your credentials.
Type in [email protected] or
[email protected] as username and the
password that accompanies your username .
The input field “Logon domain:” you can leave it
blank and click “OK”.
In the next step, you just have to accept the server
certificate.
Just click again on “OK” .
Now you are connected to the “eduroam WLAN”.
Windows 7
Make sure the wireless is enabled on your device ,
this is normally referred to the glowing blue
symbols.
Now select the following icon with the left mouse.
After that, a window should open.
Now select Eduroam.
Depending on whether you want to choose “Connect
automatically” on or off.
Now please log in with your “[email protected]” or
“[email protected]”.
“Verify the security” and klick Connect.
You should be Connected to the WLAN.
Linux (Ubuntu)
Click on the Network Manager icon (up right in the
task bar), and a list of all currently available
wireless networks appears.
Select the “eduroam” network.
In the window, you must specify additional network
information.
Leave the “Anonymous Identity:” input field blank .
Then you select [email protected] or
[email protected] as username and the
password of your username .
For the remaining settings, please refer to the
figure below.
In the next window, click “ignore”.
Now you are connected to the “eduroam WLAN”.
In Mac OS X
Click the WLAN-sign (AirPort) and search for WLAN’s.
Eduroam should appear in the networklist. If so,
select it.
Username and password must be entered. Enter
[email protected] or [email protected] as username and your associated password.
For the remaining settings, please refer to the
figure below.
And possibly the server certificate must be accepted
separately by clicking “Continue”.

Grundlagen
Eine Möglichkeit der Verbindung eines Rechners, über
einen WLAN Accesspoint des ZID, in das Netz der
Angewandten ist die Verwendung von IEEE 802.1×.
Dieser Zugang wird im Rahmen des eduroam Projekts
genutzt. Siehe auch www.eduroam.org
Das Protokoll 802.1x betrifft lediglich den LoginVorgang und seine Sicherheit. Der Traffic an sich ist
per WPA2 Enterprise verschlüsselt.
Installation und Betrieb
Die dafür notwendige Software ist zumeist bereits im
Betriebssystem enthalten.
Details zur Konfiguration sind in den folgenden Links
beschrieben. Wenn Sie bei den nötigen
Arbeitsschritten auf Ihrem Laptop Schwierigkeiten

Öffnen Sie die Einstellungen!
Den Menüpunkt “Wi-Fi” auswählen!
Unter: “Netzwerk wählen…”, auf “Anderes …” drücken!
Bitte wählen Sie als Sicherheit “Firmenweiter WPA2”
aus!
Als Benutzername [email protected] (Ihre
Personalnummer) oder [email protected]
(Ihre Matrikelnummer)

Nun sollte es funktionieren!

1. Öffnen Sie die Einstellungen
2. Unter dem Punkt „Drahtlos & Netzwerke“ WLAN
antippen.
3. „eduroam“ auswählen
4. Als Identität [email protected] (Ihre
Personalnummer) oder [email protected] (Ihre Matrikelnummer)
5. Uni-AK Kennwort eingeben
6. Nun sollte die Verbindung funktionieren.
Gast- bzw. Subaccounts
für WLAN, Email, …
Subaccounts sind als temporäre Accounts gedacht.
Jeder Mitarbeiter oder Studierende kann in seinem
eigenen Kontext Gast-Benutzer anlegen.
Gastaccounts können für Veranstaltungen (Konferenzen,
Lehrveranstaltungen) mehrfach verwendet werden (für
gleichzeitigen Login der Teilnehmer ins eduroam-WLAN
oder Klassen-Gastaccounts).
Gast-Accounts können vom Benutzer über die ServiceSeiten der Angewandten angelegt werden.
Der Gast-Account kann wie der ursprüngliche
Account das WLAN an der Angewandten nutzen.
Der Betriebsmittelverbrauch (Speicherplatz,
…) eines Gast-Account wird dem
ursprünglichen Account zugerechnet.
Der Gast-Account kann wie der ursprünglichen
Account eine eigene Mailbox und einen
eigenen Web- und File-Bereich einrichten.
Der Gast-Account erlöscht automatisch: 1)
wenn der ursprünglichen Account gelöscht
wird 2) das beim Anlegen angegebene
Ablaufdatum erreicht ist oder 3) wenn der
Besitzer des ursprünglichen Accounts den
Sub-Account löscht.
Derzeit ist kein unmittelbarer Datenaustausch
zwischen den Verzeichnissen des ursprünglichen
Accounts und seinen Sub-Accounts möglich. Es ist aber
zu beachten, dass der Benutzer des ursprünglichen
Accounts das Passwort zurücksetzen kann und sich so
Zugang zu allen Daten des Sub-Accounts verschaffen
kann.
Anlegen eines Gast-Accounts
Um einen Gastaccount anzulegen, gehen Sie bitte mit
ihrem Browser auf die Service Seiten der Angewandten.
Dann klicken Sie bitte auf den Punkt
Benutzerverwaltung. Dann sollte sich ein Popup
Fenster öffnen, wo Sie bitte die p-Nummer und Ihr
Passwort eingeben.
Nach erfolgreicher Anmeldung sollten Sie Ihren
persönlichen Welcome Screen sehen.
Klicken Sie dann bitte auf den Punkt Subaccount
(Links unten)
Füllen Sie die vorgegebenen Felder, Bezeichnung
Passwort und Ablaufdatum, aus. Das Passwort können
Sie später im PDF noch nachlesen.
z.B.:
Bestätigen Sie mit “Änderung senden”. Danach kommen
Sie auf diese Seite:
Wenn Sie hier auf Ihren Account, in dem Fall
“b0013464 – TEST” Klicken kommen Sie wieder zu Bild
Nr. 6. Wenn Sie auf “Zugangsdaten” klicken bekommen
Sie ein PDF wo Ihr Account Name und Ihr Passwort
enthalten ist.
Nun müssen Sie den Subaccount für den/die Gäste noch
aktivieren. Dies geschieht indem Sie sich mit Ihrem
Account abmelden und sich mit dem Subaccount
(bXXXXXX) bei den Serviceseiten anmelden, ebenfalls
unter dem Punkt Benutzerverwaltung.
Danach sollte bei “Account-Status” die Aktivierung
mit dem aktuellem Datum stehen.
*WICHTIG: Der Subaccount ist erst nach der
Aktivierung für die Gastbenutzer freigeschaltet!*
