Travel Information
Airport – City Centre
Munich International Airport (MUC) is located approx. 38 km from the City Centre.
From there, you can travel to the city most easily by taking the suburban railway
S1 or S8, which depart from the underground level of the airport.
Six trains on the hour connect the airport in around 50 minutes to the City Centre
(Marienplatz). Due to the complicated ticketing system of public transport in
Munich we recommend to buy a Day Ticket (single 12.40 €, groups 23.20 €) or a
City Tour Card (3 – 4 Days, http://www.citytourcard-muenchen.com/?lang=en ).
Taxis with a taximeter are permanently available in front of the airport’s arrival hall.
The fare from the airport to the city center amounts to around 70 €. Licensed taxis
are normally creamy-white with a
sign on the top.
Congress Venues
The Bavarian Academy of Sciences, the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and
Public Finance, and the Max Planck Society can be reached by or Stop
(“Marienplatz” – around 10 minutes walking distance), by
line 19 (“Nationaltheater” – around 3 minutes walking distance) or lines U3 / 6 / 4 or 5
(“Odeonsplatz” – around 5 minutes walking distance).
Munich University (Ludwig-Maximilians-University – LMU) can be reached by
lines U3 and 6 (“Universität” – directly at the LMU).
