Displaying history at
the German Federal
Chancellery
The exhibiting of gifts, which have been offered
to Germany by government leaders from
all over the world, requires a very particular
context. Therefore, bau+art has created 12
individual rolling display units for the German
Federal Chancellery. In keeping with its diverse
contents, each cabinet has a unique form.
However, together, they harmoniously present a
world of contrasts, discovery, and intrigue.

The clear focus of each cabinet
must be the precious gifts that it
holds. For this reason, each unit
has a specially developed display
base light, an invisible locking
system, and low iron, single pane,
security glass.
The specially mitred joints give
the metallic-finished cabinets the
smooth appearance of having
been cast as a single form.

Im Mittelpunkt steht das aus­
gestellte Gastgeschenk: dafür
erhielten die Möbel eine eigens
entwickelte Vitrinenboden­
beleuchtung. Jede Vitrine lässt
sich unsichtbar verschließen, die
Scheiben sind darüber hinaus aus
weißem ESG-Sicherheitsglas.
Durch den Einsatz von SonderGehrungen wirken die Vitrinen wie
aus einem Guss.

a club and hotel
of a special kind
This is a noble residence for
creative types. The know how
and creativity of bau+art was
requested throughout the 3000
square metres of this unusual
refuge. The result is a hotel
ambience which is unique both
within and far beyond metropolitan
Berlin. Alongside, 47 rooms in
various categories, there is a spa,
gym, cinema and a rooftop pool.
In addition, the hotel houses a
nightclub and a restaurant.
Noble Residenz für Autoren,
Designer, Journalisten, Manager
und Regisseure. Auf über 3.000
Quadratmetern wurde in einem
markanten Eckgebäude die
Kreativität und das Können von
bau+art gefordert. Das Ergebnis
ist ein Hotel-Ambiente, das
nicht nur in der Metropole Berlin
einzigartig ist. Neben 47 Zimmern
in verschiedenen Kategorien wird
der Gast mit einem Spa-Bereich
und einem Pool auf dem Dach
verwöhnt. Daneben gibt es ein
Kino, einen Gym-Bereich, einen
Club und ein Restaurant.

the administration
of the SED party.
The room of the
State President
Wilhelm Pieck
was conserved
by bau+art and
extended with a
conference room in
the same style.

Herzen von Berlins
Mitte war schon
immer ein ganz
besonderer Ort.
Zu Zeiten der DDR
diente das Haus als
Verwaltungszentrale
der SED. Das
Zimmer des StaatsPräsidenten Wilhelm
Pieck wurde von
bau+art erhalten
und durch einen
Konferenzraum
im gleichen Stil
erweitert.

Our new KINZO AIR series is quite simply an extra­
ordinary concept in office furniture – breaking the mold
and directing the workflow of the future. It is both

Door_52 opens the way to design and elegance:
as flat as the wall and as high as the ceiling. A minimum
door frame width creates simplicity. Covered TECTUS
door hinges are hidden in the door angles. More
features include: a block frame door construction flush
with the wall, shadow gap adapters to walls and ceiling,
a 3-sided circular rabbet door seal and floor seal on
demand. These room-high door systems come with a
height up to 280 cm or 110 inch and are delivered with
customized surfaces in veneer, varnish, or lamination.

The perfect conditions for doctors and medical
secretaries are possible with SystemC1, the modular
work system for surgeries. A timeless design is created
using clean lines and drawers without handles but
rather BLUM pressure lock system (push to open). The
use of mineral material allows for the joint-less sink,
which along with the smooth transition between the top
and side surfaces, make for easy care and cleaning.
Decades of experience at bau+art are why clients can
count on high functionality and quality. SystemC1 is also
available in a myriad of colours.

a Spanish
monastery
For a private residence, bau+art
designed the complete extension
of the living area. The construction
of doors and furniture was
developed in-house following the
original construction method.
16 tons of material were applied for
29 squared massive wood doors,
safety entrance double doors and
electric sliding doors. A dressing
room, home office, bath furniture
and the kitchen were also realized
for the client.
Für eine Privatresidenz realisierte
bau+art den Komplettausbau
des Wohnungsbereichs. Die
Konstruktion der Türen und
Einrichtungen wurde hausintern
entwickelt und der originalen
Bauweise nachempfunden. 16
Tonnen Material für 29 kassettierte
Massivholz-Innentüren, 2-flüglige
Sicherheits-Eingangstüren und
elektrisch betriebene Schiebetüren
kamen zum Einsatz. Auch
Ankleidebereiche, ein Home-Office,
Badmöbel und die Küche wurden
für den Kunden umgesetzt.

With these words the architecture
firm, GRAFT, describes this extra­
ordinary 1-room flat. The loft, atop
a typical classic residential building
in Berlin, features floor to ceiling
sliding walls. They make it possible
to divide the space into three
single living-units and to divide
living areas inside of them. bau+art
fashioned the sliding doors, as
well as built-in closets, beds and
diverse furniture completing the
wishes of the architects.
Mit diesen Worten beschreiben die
Architekten GRAFT ihre einzigartige
1-Zimmer Wohnung. Auf einem
typischen Berliner Altbauhaus
entstand dieses moderne Loft.
Raumhohe Schiebetüren er­
möglichen die Aufteilung der
gesamten Etage in drei einzelne
Wohneinheiten und die Trennung
verschiedener Wohnbereiche
untereinander. bau+art realisierte
neben den Schiebewänden die
Küchen, Wandschränke, Betten
und verschiedene Möbel nach den
Wünschen der Architekten.

medical centre complete with
examination rooms, laboratory and
operating rooms. The complete
extension includes all furniture
and built-in components, 21
room-doors in aluminium and HPL
walnut, and the reception area
with four work stations.
Im Ärztezentrum Nollendorfplatz
in Berlin richtete bau+art ein
100% funktionales Medizinisches
Versorgungszentrum mit
Behandlungszimmern, Labor
und OP ein. Der Komplettausbau
umfasst außer allen Möbeln und
Einbauten auch 21 Zimmertüren
in Aluminium und HPL-Nussbaum
und den Empfangstresen mit vier
Arbeitsplätzen.

Waiting time can be beautiful:
In this group practice of three
doctors visitors are surprised by
an elegant reception and waiting
area. A cushioned bench and
platform of walnut parquet make
the area more like an upscale
lounge, where patients can enjoy
the view over the city.
So schön kann Warten sein:
in der Gemeinschaftspraxis
von drei Ärzten erwartet
den Besucher eine elegante
Rezeption mit Wartebereich.
Eine gepolsterte Sitzbank und
ein Podestboden mit WalnussParkett geben dem Bereich
einen Lounge-Charakter, in dem
der Patient die Aussicht über die
Stadt genießen kann.

The utility vehicle pavilion
at the VW Autostadt is an
extraordinary place: The front
of the building leans back
at a 55 degree angle. With
respect to the architecture,
bau+art generated furniture
and a stage construction
following this angle.
Der Nutzfahrzeuge Pavillon
in der VW Autostadt ist ein
aussergewöhnlicher Ort:
die vordere Gebäudewand
ist in einem Winkel von
55° angesetzt. bau+art
setzte die Architektur des
Gebäudes im Innenraum
fort und passte die Möbel
und den Bühnenbau diesen
Gegebenheiten an.

hold up to 4 tons.
