DAS HISTORISCHE MUSEUM DER STADT LUXEMBURG STELLT SICH VOR
Das Historische Museum der Stadt Luxemburg ist ein gesellschaftlichen Themen zugewandtes Haus mit vielfältigen Sammlungen. Es
sammelt, bewahrt und dokumentiert das materielle und immaterielle Kulturerbe der Stadt Luxemburg vom 10. Jahrhundert bis heute,
welches im nationalen, regionalen und europäischen Kontext, sowohl in historischer wie heutiger Perspektive, präsentiert wird.
Das Museum vermittelt in seiner Dauerausstellung und seinen Sonderausstellungen wichtige Aspekte der Geschichte der Hauptstadt des
Grossherzogtums Luxemburg sowie sozio-kulturelle Themen, die relevant für die heutige Gesellschaft sind. Es versteht sich als ein Haus,
in dem die ausgestellten Objekte ihre Geschichte(n) erzählen. Durch seine narrative Herangehensweise bringt das Museum historische
Wissenschaft und kollektive Erinnerung zusammen.
Nach den Ausstellungen „Incubi Succubi. Hexen und ihre Henker bis heute“ (2002 im Deutschen Historischen Museum, Berlin), „Sei
sauber…! Eine Geschichte der Hygiene und öffentlichen Gesundheitsvorsorge in Europa“ (2004/05 in der Deutschen ArbeitsschutzAusstellung, Dortmund) und „Achtung, Zigeuner! Geschichte eines Missverständnisses“ ist „Mord und Totschlag. Eine Ausstellung über
das Leben“ (2009/10 in Luxemburg) die vierte grosse, vom Historischen Museum der Stadt Luxemburg konzipierte Sonderausstellung, die
im Ausland in einem international renommierten Haus gezeigt wird.

Le Musée d’Histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg est un musée de société qui réunit des collections variées. Il s’engage à collectionner, à
e
préserver et à documenter le patrimoine culturel (matériel et immatériel) de la ville de Luxembourg, du 10 siècle à nos jours qu’il expose
en le situant dans un contexte national, régional et européen, tant historique que contemporain.
Le Musée utilise ses espaces d’exposition permanente et temporaire pour communiquer au public des aspects importants de l’histoire de
la capitale du grand-duché de Luxembourg tant que des sujets socio-culturels qui sont pertinents pour la société contemporaine. Il se
conçoit comme un lieu où l’on raconte des histoires sur les objets. Par son approche narrative, il assure le relais entre mémoire savante et
mémoire collective.
Après les expositions « Incubi Succubi. Les sorcières et leurs bourreaux, hier et aujourd’hui » (en 2002 au Deutsches Historisches
Museum de Berlin), « Lave-toi… ! Une histoire de l’Hygiène et de la Santé publique en Europe » (en 2004/05 à la Deutsche ArbeitsschutzAusstellung, Dortmund) et « Attention, Tsiganes ! Histoire d’un malentendu » (en 2009 au Helsinki City Museum), « Crimes de sang. Une
exposition sur la vie » (en 2009/10 à Luxembourg) est la quatrième grande exposition temporaire conçue par le Musée d’Histoire de la
Ville de Luxembourg qui est montrée à l’étranger dans un musée de renommée internationale.

THE LUXEMBOURG CITY HISTORY MUSEUM PRESENTS ITSELF
The Luxembourg City History Museum assembles rich and diverse collections and focuses on exhibiting socially relevant issues. It
collects, preserves and documents the cultural heritage (tangible and intangible) of the city of Luxembourg, from the 10th century until
today, and presents it in national, regional, European, as well as historical and contemporary contexts.
Within its permanent and temporary exhibitions the Museum highlights important aspects of the capital of the Grand Duchy’s history and
communicates socio-cultural topics that are significant for contemporary society. It is a cultural institution where histories of exposed
objects are told. With its narrative approach the Museum connects academic history and collective memory.
After the exhibitions “Incubi Succubi. Witches and their Executioners, in Past and Present Times”, (2002 at the Deutsches Historisches
Museum, Berlin), “Be clean …! A History of Hygiene and Public Health in Europe” (2004/05 at the Deutsche Arbeitsschutz-Ausstellung,
Dortmund) and “Watch out, Gypsies! The History of a Misunderstanding”, “Murder and Manslaughter. An exhibition about life” (2009/10 in
Luxembourg) is the fourth great exhibition conceived by the Luxembourg City History Museum on show abroad in an internationally
renowned museum.
