Take either S46 or S41 direction Gesundbrunnen (that is, get on the S-Bahn ring line in the clockwise direction). Note that some of the lines in the ring may have different final stations, depending on the time of day. Get off at Heidelberger Platz, switch to U3 direction Krumme Lanke, and finally get off at Thielplatz as above. Independent of the S-Bahn trip costs are about Euro 2,00. Taxi from Schönefeld takes about 45 minutes outside rush hours. Costs are about 30 Euro. By Train from Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten: Take U-Bahn U9 direction Rathaus Steglitz. Hints for Public Transport You can find more information about timetables, alternative routes, etc. at BVG or VBB. For all trips described here, a ticket for the fare zones AB is sufficient. Do not forget to get it stamped in one of the red boxes before you start your trip. Last update 09/09/2005 Useful Information September 6, 2005: Dear All, This is an email to those of you, who plan to bring a poster. Could you please tell us within the next two days: The title, authors and their affiliations in order to create an information sheet to be distributed at the workshop. September 5, 2005: Let me send you some (final) information that may be helpful for your trip: As you hopefully know, the workshop website is http://www.fhiberlin.mpg.de/th/Meetings/UCSBworkshop/home.html This contains quite some information, such as the program and a local map showing the Harnack House neighborhood. Let me give this here again: http://www.fhi-berlin.mpg.de/map.epl When you arrive at Tegel airport I suggest that you take a taxi, telling the driver to go to the Harnack House which is in Berlin-Dahlem, at the intersection of Ihnestrasse and Saargemuender Strasse, close to subway station (U-Bahnhof) Thielplatz. A taxi from Tegel airport to the Harnack House should cost about 20 Euros. If you come by train, the best station to get off is Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten. From there you can take a taxi, but taking the subway is also convenient. You have to change once, namely at Spichernstrasse (start with U9 direction Rathaus Steglitz, at Spichernstrasse switch to U3 direction Krumme Lanke, get off at station Thielplatz). Please note: The Harnack House is a conference center and not a regular hotel. Thus, if you will arrive late, please inform Frieda Halder [email protected] ASAP !! (Late is: Saturday and Sunday after 10 p.m. or Monday and Tuesday after 9 p.m.) **New Registration will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening in the restaurant of the Harnack House where a buffet style meal will also be served. All guest rooms at the Harnack House are equipped with a digital phone which also contains a network card. You need a patch cable to connect your laptop, and you can get it from the Harnack House reception desk. At several locations in the Harnack House there is also WLAN and there is also a room with two PCs and a printer. Typically my mobile phone is switched off, but during the workshop it will be on. Thus, in case you need to reach me please call +49 30 170 785 9591 from anywhere on the planet (or just 0170 785 9591 if you are already in Germany or Berlin) Frieda Halder's phone is +49 30 8413 4710 from anywhere (or just 030 8413 4710 if you are in Germany, or just 8413 4710 if you are in Berlin) You can also reach me by email Matthias Scheffler [email protected] *** New: As a final note: If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know and we will be happy to make the necessary arrangements. We wish you a safe and pleasant trip! Looking forward to seeing you soon in Berlin. July 4, 2005: So far you have not replied to our email of June 14. I insert it again below. If you like accommodation in the Harnack House (only then we can cover the costs for lodging) you should please react within the next 2 weeks. June 14, 2005: Please note that the ordering of talks may still change, but the speakers are all confirmed. Each talk should be less than 30 Minutes to leave more than 5 minutes for discussion. Everyone participating is invited to bring a poster, and Max-Planck-directors may also inform group leaders in their institute about this meeting. If group leaders like to participate, they should please register as soon as possible. Everyone who likes to come (including the speakers) should please send an e-mail to [email protected] and tell us the following ASAP !!!!!!!!! -- arrival date and time -- departure date and time -- if you come alone or bring a partner -- accommodation requirements (single, double room, no room) If you need a room in the Harnack House, we will book it. Direct booking at the Harnack House is not possible. -- preliminary title(s) of your poster(s) You may check if we have received your information and if this is correct at the workshop website, clicking at participants. -- The expenses for lodging at the Harnack House will be covered directly by the MPG.
