 Mahmundi Under the codename Mahmundi, the young singer, composer and musician, the Carioca Marcela Vale has been developing new ways to the national Pop. Her work exposes two different approaches and contemporary musical genres in Brazil and worldwide while referring to universal composition codes and structure. Mahmundi breaks the strict view towards territorial music, without losing local features. In her first EP in 2012, “Efeito das Cores” (the Color Effect), Mahmundi played experimenting tones, instruments and synthesizers which referred to the music made in the 80’s and, also, to the Rio de Janeiro, located between the organic and concrete , the sea and the city. From this first sunny and nostalgic moment, she got her own way to develop her inspirations and compositions. Released firstly online, the EP soon earned a considerable public in different cities in Brazil and was featured in different media , such as “O Globo”, “Jornal do Brazil”, “Rolling Stones”,”Vogue”, “Trip” and “Gazeta”. The video clip for "Calor do Amor" the lead single in the EP, now has more than 76,000 views on YouTube and the song ended winning the category "New Hit" in Multishow Awards 2013. Almost a year after the first EP, in September 2013, Marcela slowed down and “closed the curtains” in her second work, which has the name of the month in which she was born: “Setembro” (September). Away from the dusty glow of the past, she has built a territory with her own lyrical beauty. Despite sounding like a sort of antithesis to the previous work, "Setembro" revealed itself, at the same time, as a full continuation of the same sentimental content that has permeated the work of the artist. Like an addition to the act released in 2012, the singer's second work gained space abroad and took Mahmundi to the Carnaval Bahidorá Festival, in Mexico. After a year without releasing new material, Mahmundi is back with the new single "Sentimento", composed especially to compete for the Multishow Awards 2014, in the category "New Song" which she has won before. If music is a channel for many different emotions, "Sentimento" is the maturation and consolidation of the way Marcela sees the world. While suggesting a new 'Mundi' of possibilities for her music, the new track displays a sound that was already listened in "Setembro": once again the approach to the R & B (in Rio popularly known as "Charme", since the 80’s). With a long introduction with slow and striking beats, spaced synths and echoing voices, Mahmundi invites the listener to drift quietly to the majestic entrance of the whole arrangement stitched by the piano.
