Bus Stop
a comedy by William Inge
A raging snowstorm is the background for William Inge’s charming and often poignant American classic about eight
colorful characters dealing with love and loneliness. A busload of weary travelers must hole up at a Midwest roadside
diner until morning. Among them is a nightclub singer named Cherie who has been kidnapped by young cowboy Bo.
Despite her protests, he is ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, kicking and screaming down the aisle.
During the night, café owner Grace and bus driver Carl explore a long overdue friendship, middle aged scholar Dr.
Lyman comes to terms with his shady past and small town girl Elma gets her first taste of romance. Bo’s ranch
hand/mentor Virgil and stern sheriff Will Masters are onlookers over the proceedings. Featuring Kedryn Carpenter as
Grace, Alana Fickel as Elma, Chad McNeal as Will Masters, Debbie Briggs as Cherie, Jonathan Hodges as Dr. Lyman,
Jeff Kerr as Karl, Rich Minick as Virgil Blessing and Derek Morman as Bo Decker. Director is Christopher Butturff,
assistant director is Jim Crumrine and producer is Charlie Diefenbacher

Eagle Scout Project
Zachary Tucker, one of our McDonald’s Youth
participants (1st show - Revenge of the Space Pandas
and been a regular ever since - you may remember him
as Scut Farkas in The Christmas Story or as Cinderella’s
stepmother in Cinderella), is working towards
completing the requirements for Eagle Rank with the
Boys Scouts. He has chosen Encore Theatre for his
Service Project and is currently working to raise funds to
replace the flooring in our Green Room. The carpet in
the room had been ruined by flooding a couple years
ago. Zach and his team will be installing ceramic tile in
the entire room Anyone who wishes to donate to this
project can send a check to Encore Theatre marked
Eagle Scout or visit the box office during the run of Bus
Stop. Also we wish to send special thanks to T & D
Interiors for their assistance with this project.

What is essential is invisible to the eye.”
