THE EVENT
The TELAS International TV Festival is an initiative of Converge
Comunicações (Tela Viva magazine), in partnership with the
São Paulo City Department of Culture and SP Cine. The event is
supported by Centro Cultural São Paulo, Centro da Cultura Judaica,
Cine Olido, Cinemateca, FAAP (Fundação Armando
Álvares Penteado), MIS (Museu da Imagem e do Som), Praça
das Artes and SESC São Paulo. In 2014 it partnered with three
international festivals: France’s FIPA (Festival International
de Programmes Audiovisuels) and Sunny Side of the Doc; and
Canada’s Hot Docs.
The TELAS Festival aims to generate visibility for high-quality
Brazilian and global television production, facilitating enjoyment of
this content by the general public, including people who do not have
access to pay television.
More than 200 programs were exhibited during the Festival,
including documentaries, children’s programs, series and line
programs, among others.

LATE-NIGHT SESSIONS
Complete seasons of HBO’s French series Les Revenants and the
BBC’s Sherlock were screened in all-night sessions on November
8-9 at MIS and Cine Caixa Belas Artes respectively. Breakfast was
served during breaks between episodes.
EXHIBITION OF COSTUMES FROM
“MEU PEDACINHO DE CHÃO”
Over 30 costumes from TV Globo’s soap opera were displayed
at Praça das Artes, illustrating the magical universe of fictitious
village Santa Fé.
DISCOVERY KIDS
Discovery Kids entertained parents and children with its photo booth
at Centro Cultural São Paulo, producing strips of rapid snaps for
festivalgoers to take home.
BLOGGER DEBATE
How do today’s series compare with those of the past? Why are some
series hits while others are cancelled? What novelties are most eagerly
anticipated by the public? These are some of the questions discussed by a
special group of bloggers during the first edition of TELAS.
The bloggers included Paulo Gustavo (Almanaque dos Seriados/Loucos
por Séries/Vivo TV), Camila Barbieri and Michel Arouca (Série Maníacos),
