Como são feitos os alinhadores?
Para garantir um alto grau de precisão durante todo o processo, são feitas impressões (moldagens) de alta
definição (PVS) das arcadas dentárias. O ortodontista envia o material para a fábrica, onde ele é escaneado
por tomografia computadorizada, resultando numa imagem tridimensional de altíssima definição dos dentes do
paciente. A imagem é trabalhada em um software especial que simula o tratamento ortodôntico de acordo com
as orientações e o planejamento do ortodontista. Um programa de computador, denominado ClinCheck, simula
a movimentação da dentição desde o início, mostrando sua evolução até o resultado final. O ClinCheck é
revisado pelo ortodontista através da internet. Se estiver consistente com o diagnóstico inicial e o plano de
tratamento, o processo de confecção de alinhadores é aprovado. Depois de aprovada, a seqüência de
tratamento sugerida pelo ClinCheck é reproduzida em modelos acrílicos individuais, confeccionados através de
prototipagem por estereolitografia. Toda a seqüência de alinhadores, especialmente confeccionada para os
dentes do paciente, é feita a partir dos modelos acrílicos. O material utilizado são placas de acetato,
semelhantes às de clareamento dentário, contudo mais finas, fortes, e discretas.
