Porto Alegre R S / B R A SIL TM 1 CROSSING PA R A L L E L 3 0 ° S CIDADE BAIXA ROUTE Parque Farroupilha - Mapa (Farroupilha Park - Map) Legend Tip: Enjoy the Brique stands and find a souvenir from Porto Alegre to take home! B o h e mian neighborhood Cidade Baixa is a neighborhood of contrasts. On the one hand it is where the past is more visible - as said by Moacyr Scliar - with a large concentration of historic houses, especially the door-and-window style, as on João Alfredo Street and Venezianos Lane. The peaceful atmosphere, and some residential streets as Lopo Gonçalves contrast with the neighborhood’s bustling nightlife. This is where there is the greatest concentration of bars, taverns, concert halls and theaters. If the plan is to enjoy the evening in a relaxed atmosphere, or alternatively, Cidade Baixa is the right place. Pa rq u e Fa r ro upilha ( Fa r ro u p i l h a Park) The affectionate name Redenção, printed in the memories of the people of Porto Alegre comes from the old name given in 1884 - Campos da Redenção (Redemption Fields) - honoring the struggle for the liberty of slaves. Porto Alegre would have been the first city (together with Redenção in Ceará) to free slaves, 4 years before the Golden Law. In 1930, the park receives a project by architect and urban planner Alfredo Agache, which brings unity to the area through a central axis and the design of gardens and nooks. 62 n rm e xo Av .L R. ou Av re D . uq De iro u s. da An Si dr lva éd aR oc Av.
