We buy our excellent coffees from hand-picked producers which convince us from our personal and entrepreneurial stand point. 12 Pounds creates new markets for producers and enables its customers ultimate enjoyment. In the selection of our coffees, we emphasize on: 1) Excellent quality coffee 2) Convincing Entrepreneurs 3) Sustainable Production Partner Our partners include farmers‘ organizations that, due to their entrepreneurial vision, produce excellent coffee. Their goal is to grow and act independently without the support of development aid organizations. The profitable developments of the coffee farms allow further investment in education, health and leads to an overall stability of the coffee region. Our annual project 2012 ACCSO acts as an umbrella organization of 4 0 0 coffee producers in Guatemala. T heir goal is to provide a platform for small coffee farmers, which allows them the coordinated sale of coffee to exporters, without being dependent on so called “coyotes” (middlemen). Domingo Santos is the president of ACCSO and, together with his wife and two children, lives on his 2.5 hectare coffee farm near Esquipulas, Guatemala. For ACCSO, it is the f irst time to undertake such a big investment but the motivation is high and the goal very clear: better coffee quality eases market access and enables better prices.
