Dylan, 16, lives in Dartford, just outside London. He’s taken about 15,000 photos since he became interested in photography about six years ago. He’s taken a lot of colour photographs with a digital camera. But he prefers taking and developing his own black-andwhite photos with his manual camera because they show more contrast. I started developing photos in my school’s darkroom last year. First, I wash the negatives. Then I use an enlarger to cut the photos and decide how much contrast I want. It takes about two days to develop a photo. I have to wait one night for the negative to dry and another for the photo to dry. Most people use digital photography, but manual photography will always be more creative. When I leave school, I want to study photography in London like my father. I’d like to specialize in photographing people and have big exhibitions.
