Organização:
The Volunteers' Association of Tarragona was created in 1991 by a group of monitors and geriatrics
students from Tarragona.
At the beginning, the association organised annually games for the different events of the Residence La
Mercè. In time, it started organising trips, outdoor activities and all sorts of events dedicated to the elder
people in Tarragona.
For the past four years, the association has varied its activities from the entertainment ones to the
intergenerational or to stimulation activities for the elderly living in the Residence (in many cases the
residents have no family, do not receive visits or lack of financial resources).
The volunteers in the organisation are mostly students, housewives and retired people who dedicate
part of their time alone. We dedicate our activities and staff exclusively to the Residence la Mercè.
Principais tarefas:
The volunteers are mostly involved in leisure time activities within the weekly activity calendar at the
Residence La Mercè.
These are complementary activities to the usual activities of the residence which give an added value to
the project and to being a volunteer. EVS volunteers do not act as job substitutes and they are
supervised by the professionals of the centre.
• Participation in game and stimulation activities;
• Accompany the elderly to the place of the activity and back to the Residence;
• Meetings in order to prepare the activities and monitoring of finished activities;
• Participation and monitoring registration.
Perfil desejado d@ voluntári@:

com idade entre os 16 e os 30 anos, inclusive;
nacionalidade portuguesa ou com residência oficial em Portugal;
preferencialmente com alguns conhecimentos de castelhano.
