Media Release WITH MUSIC BY MARCELO BRATKE AND CAMERATA BRASIL, AND FILM/SCENERY BY MARIANNITA LUZZATI, “TOM JOBIM PLURAL” WILL PLAY ONE SHOW IN SERGIPE Show is part of the national tour sponsored by Vale visiting another five cities Pianist and conductor Marcelo Bratke and the Camerata Brasil (an orchestra of young musicians from underprivileged areas of Brazilian society) are taking the TOM JOBIM PLURAL project on a national from July to December. The T idea for the tour came from Bratke himself and artist Mariannita Luzzati, who is responsible for the show's film/scenery. The show is free and sponsored exclusively by Vale (via the Cultural incentive law - the Rouanet Act). There will be a single show in Aracaju at the Atheneu Theater on September 4, at 8 pm. Organized by Bratke and Mariannita, the project will visit ten cities in eight Brazilian states. The tour begins in Itabira (MG), on July 17, and after visiting Aracaju it will also go to São Luís (MA) and São Paulo (SP), in September; Vitória (ES), Belo Horizonte (MG), in November, and Corumbá (MS), in December. "We are very happy to once again help showcase Brazilian culture while also training young talent and providing access to culture in areas areas where the company operates", said Vale Fertilizantes general manager for Communications and Corporate Affairs, Paulo Eduardo Batista. A homage to Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927 – 1994), a composer from Rio de Janeiro, the project focuses on the symphonic elements and the environmental themes in his work, particularly one of his main sources of inspiration: nature. Based on this, when Marcelo Bratke and Camerata Brasil play play a repertoire of memorable Tom Jobim songs, such as Modinha, Saudades do Brasil, Choro, As Praias Desertas, Estrada Branca, Sabiá, Wave, Luiza and Samba de Avião, the film/scenery produced by Mariannita Luzzati will be projected on a screen at the back off the stage, with moving images focusing on Brazilian nature. Profiles Marcelo Bratke - A Brazilian pianist living in London, Bratke has played at the most renowned concert halls in the world, including the Carnegie Hall, Festival de Salzburg, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall, Konzerthaus, Berlin and Suntory Hall, in Tokyo. He has built a successful uccessful career overcoming a serious congenital problem affecting his vision that has limited his sight from childhood until he was 44, when he undertook a high risk procedure in Boston (US) and started the really see the world for the first time. Although usually involved in more classical music, Marcelo Bratke has travelled beyond the frontiers of this universe. He has also recorded duets with pianist Marcela Roggeri and soprano Rosana Lamosa. The project includes a complete recording of his works for solo piano on 8 CDs Ds with the Britânica Quartz record company, concerts in Europe, the US and Asia and production of a documentary in English for international TV. Marcelo Bratke studied at the Juilliard School of Music, in New York. He has received a number of awards, including the first Concorso Internazionale di Musica Tradate,, in Italy, the "Revelation" award from the Sao Paulo Art Critics' Association (APCA); the Carlos Gomes award, the Classic Discoveries award in England, ngland, the Brazil in Germany 2006 award and the Brazilian International Press Award 2011. His CD dedicated to the Le Groupe des Six,, by Jean Cocteau, was considered one of the best classical recordings of all time by British magazine Gramophone. Camerata Brasil – Marcelo Bratke has been increasingly involved in how art can engage in social development and in 2006 he partnered with the Vale Foundation to create Camerata Brasil, an orchestra set up to train young musicians from underprivileged areas of Espirito Santo, where there had previously been no opportunity for the academic study of music. Through this project, the youngsters involved have been introduced to the competitive music market in brazil and abroad. In just five years, Camerata Brasil Brasil has held four major national tours, playing at some of the largest concert halls in Brazil: from Sala São Paulo to the Municipal Theater in Rio de Janeiro; from the Palácio das Artes, in Belo Horizonte, to the mega concert at Copacabana beach, where Bratke and his Camerata shared the stage with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and Kurt Masur, among others. There have been 52 public concerts and 46 teaching concerts in 28 Brazilian cities, as well as DVDs and CDs and concerts abroad. Their first international concert was in Japan during a tour that included shows at some of Japan's most famous concert halls, including the Shirakawa Hall, in Nagoya, and the Suntory Hall, in Tokyo.
