highlight “Next door’s neighbour” The Teatro Experimental do Funchal – TEF débuts on April a brand new play. A four acts comedy by the Portuguese playwright André Brun, which will surely bring many good mood moments to its audiences. “A Vizinha do lado” (Next door’s neighbour) went on stage for the first time on January 5, 1945, in Oporto Coliseum, and since then has toured throughout the Portuguese mainland, across theaters or cinemas. This story spins around Mr. Plácido Mesquita, an Ethics Teacher at Famalicão’s High School, who arrives at the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, to visit his nephew, Edward, supposedly studying medicine. The situation becomes complicated because, apart from the fact of that Eduardo is not studying at all, he’s also living with a showgirl in musical comedies, Isabel. It’s an everyday life story, which brings up other daily common stories that may happen to anyone and anywhere. “Next door’s neighbour” is staged by Eduardo and Luíz and opens on April 10, in Santo-António movietheatre, in Funchal. Note: we regret to inform that the above play is exclusively held in Portuguese. 2 exhibitions “Life in Photograps” Until April 17 By Linda McCartney Display on Linda McCartney’s artistic work, which captured images of many of most important and mythical artists like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and Steve McQueen, among others FNAC Gallery Madeira Shopping Org.: FNAC in partnership with TASCHEN www.fnac.pt “A Linha no tempo e no espaço” Painting, drawing, sculpture and installation by Lisandra Luís Centro Cívico do Estreito de Câmara de Lobos Largo do Patim - Estreito de Câmara de Lobos Telephone: 291 910 040 www.cm-camaradelobos.pt “A Santa Liberdade 1961: A Dulcinea que abalou as Ditaduras Ibéricas” Until April 30 The exhibit recalls the memory of one of the most significant episodes of struggle against the Old Portuguese dictatorship regime: The assault to the Ship “Santa Maria” Printing Press Museum Avenida da Autonomia, 3 – Câmara de Lobos Tuesday to Saturday: 9.00am – 5.30pm www.cm-camaradelobos.pt “The History of Funchal” Until May 30 The display outcomes the official book release “História do Funchal” (The History of Funchal) by the Madeiran historian Rui Carita Colégio dos Jesuítas - Funchal Monday to Friday: 10.00am – 6.00pm Org.: University of Madeira Student’s Association (AAUMa) 3 exhibitions Until April 19 “Packages, conservation and transport: Tinplate boxes” Until June 20 Project: “Access to the museum’s collections” Madeira Ethnographic Museum - Atrium Rua de São Francisco, 24 - Ribeira Brava Telephone: 291 952 598 Tuesday to Friday: 9.30am – 5.00pm Saturday to Sunday: 10.00am – 12.30pm;
