Kishinev/Moldaurepublik lebte und von dort aus 1904 nach Canada emigrierte.

Beide entstammen aus dem Pfälzer Teil der Familien Hackenschmidt, im Schwerpunkt aus
der Region Kaiserslautern und dem Grenzgebiet zu Lothringen/Frankreich.
Bedeutungsvoll ist auch die Verbindung zu Phillips-Familien, die aus Lothringen in die
Galizien-Region kamen. Durch Heirat einer Phillips-Tochter entstanden familiäre
Verbindungen, die dazu führten, dass Hackenschmidt-Angehörige den Phillips-Familien nach

to Canada.
Family Research has proven that around 1650 already Family members moved from
Thuringia to Palatina. In 1720 Georg Heinrich Hackenschmidt founded a family arm there
whose successing members still today live in the region around Kaiserslautern and
Pirmasens near the Lorraine/French Border.
The data show that years before 1. Philipp H. immigratedfrom Palatina, Hackenschmidt
Family members living nearby Pirmasens( Western Palatina resp Lorraine)moved via Vienna
to Ugurtstal in Galicia. Also a settlement named „Brunnental” nearby was mentioned in
connection with family settlements. The immigrants have finally proceeded to Moldova for
embarkment onwards to Canada. Moldova was during the times also under Austrian
protectorate, thereafter under Romanian and now under URS/Russian Federation Roof.
The connection with the Phillips families which moved from Lorraine to the Galicia region is
important also. From marriage of a Phillips daughter with a Hackenschmidt originated family
connections which led to the result that Hackenschmidt member followed the Phillips families

The German Ancestors of Johann(John) immigrated from Western Palatina( North and West
of Kaiserslautern and Pirmasens- Towns most probably Glan-Gonbach-Münchweiler, to

Johann/John came to Canada in 1904 with Mr. & Mrs. Wolfe, their family and other people
from their village and the area of Dolina District.
John came to Canada on a cattle boat which was equipped to bring over new settlers at a
very low fare. They arrived in Montreal and then came west on an immigration train. The train
stopped in Winnipeg, Manitoba where a number got off including Mr. & Mrs. Wolfe. John
continued on to Langenburg, North West Territories - now Saskatchewan.
