The cultural and recreational activities planned by the departments responsible for monitoring the execution of the sentence are framed in the prison treatment program and takes into account the cultural diversity of inmates. 2. The departments responsible for monitoring the execution of the sentence organize at least quarterly to ensure the physical and mental well-being and promote the spirit of social coexistence of prisoners, reading promotion events, exhibitions, conferences, musical performances and theater, and regard the suggestions of prisoners and involve them in your schedule. 2 Direção Geral de Reinserção e Serviços Prisionais Directorate-General for Reintegration and Prison Services • General Regulation of Prisons (Decree - Law 51/2011) Cultural and recreational activities 3. The planning and execution of activities involves, whenever possible, the entities that have a direct intervention of the prison population, including teachers and volunteers. 4. Whatever type of participation of prisoners (active or passive), the educational potential and rehabilitation of cultural and creative activities is enormous.
