International Lunch - United States of America (March)
In March we had a really special International Lunch, from the USA! As we search for insight into the
nation’s culture, history, and people through its food, we must first determine what makes something
American fare. The image that comes to mind is often that of the classic American dinner: burgers, fries,
and a milkshake. Or is it fried chicken and macaroni and cheese? While all these meals are considered
quintessential American dishes, they do not completely encompass the multicultural population of
the United States. To prove that, we had an interesting meal with Sloppy Joe’s, baked potatoes and
delicious salads! And we still have so many different recipes to try!

International Lunch - Uruguay (April)
In April we celebrated Uruguay in our second International Lunch from this year. Uruguayan
cuisine has a lot of European influence, especially from Italy and Spain, though expect to
find a lot more meat due to the country’s abundant production of beef. Uruguay is known
for producing high quality beef, fresh seafood is caught daily along the coastal shores and
a wide variety of fruits and vegetables are grown on farms throughout the countryside. The
most famous dishes from this day were the Pascualina pie and dessert: Dulche de Leche
with churros!
